The Common Cold

I dont care how common it is.

In just over 24 hours, I've gone from being a perfectly healthy human to being a snot-ridden, lungs on fire, sputumy wreck.

And of course it happened on my last night shift, so I now have my 4 days off with which to grow accustomed to a sore nose from wiping it every 2 minutes.

T**t

Let's not be hasty now, calling things common will get you no where ..

I actively look forward to resembling the green ghost from ghostbusters for a few days as it means I can share the love with the rest of my co-workers without them wanting to bother or even talk to me! It's that look of revulsion that gets me, I clearly only have a cold but may as well have botulism.

Lol, our employers encourage us to take time off work, if one has a contagious virus, to avoid affecting/infecting the work populous.

There is a flaw in the system...you get sacked if you take time off work, through sickness.

Just had a flu jab.

Not that it in any way impacts on the chance of getting a cold.

...or the 'flu.

I'm an NHS employee too, so i've always had the jabs.

But the common cold is a different entity. No flu jab will ever protect you from it.

And the one I have at the moment is proper evil

The 'common cold' treated will be gone in seven days...

The 'common cold' left untreated will only last a week!

I always seem to suffer a lot longer, i.e. 2 weeks longer.

I've never had a cold that lasted just a week

Maybe I've got poor genes.

It's blokes (and I really mean wimps) like you that give women the ammunition they need to pooh pooh our genuine illnesses.

Man up you pair of Fannie's.

And those with pre existing medical issues or work in health care or deal with the elderly or children. Some employers offer a free jab to protect their work force and prevent illness.
