****ing Alitalia...

Flew to Istanbul via Rome today.

Not only was the flight exceedingly late, but
I have to run a week's worth of training
with a PC and 1 shirt as those stupid ****ing
baggage handlers have lost my bag.

****s!

The sooner those incompetents in charge run Alitalia
into bankruptcy, the better.

Good chance it was the handling agent and not Alitalia

Mate believe me, Ryanair is just as bad. 4 flights out of my last 5 with them have been a nightmare. And not even that cheap. I flew OUT of Rome Ciampino yesterday afternoon and it was hell...

Alitalia are not long for this earth though - depends how many Euros the Italian government decide to pump into it I guess...

Re: ****ing Alitalia...

My dad (who works in the airline industry) was telling me of the laissez-faire mentality that a lot of Alitalia pilots seem to have. It wasn't uncommon for the captains to leave the F/O whilst they went back and chatted with the cabin crew. Given new regulations I doubt this practice continues, it's still not the safest of carriers though, not by a long margin...

Re: ****ing Alitalia...

For too many years Alitalia has been destroyed by patronage. Politicians have been handing out jobs and perks to keep friends and family, as well as some voters, happy. A complete shame.

Re: ****ing Alitalia...

I use the World's favourite airline.. The chicks are a bit grim but the rest is pretty okay.

Baggage is the handler's fault, not the airline.. and if the plane was late it may have been caused by passengers not boarding on time, or a delay in the flight stack.. could happen anytime.

Better than Aeroflot though, which I had the "pleasure" of flying on once

Why do you re-use them though? I'd never fly on them again.

I flew Ryanair once (well, they are cheap), but boy, do you get what you pay for. The worst thing is not being able to reserve a seat. One of my friends I was travelling with is 6' 6", and has difficulty fitting in some of the seats - so we had to make sure we were near the front of the que when we boarded

Re: ****ing Alitalia...

Ciampino was on the news recently as many luggages got lost, because the system was not designed to work with many luggages and a lot of workers there sabotage the system as well so that they can work less. Some handling companies were fired and substituted but problems still persist. There are thousands of bags lost and unclaimed that are being sold off at auctions...
