Madness Yes Officer, No Officer

Was driving home yesterday on the national highway and I see a Traffic cop car behind me. Flashing lights, siren the whole works.
Now what??
So I pull over. She comes to my window and tells me that she stopped me because I was talking on my cellphone and she was giving me a fine
The more I try and explain to this cow that I was not, the more she threatens me.
Then she tells she can make it go away if I want to....

So I told her that I would rather give my phone in at the traffic department, get all the details from my service provider to show that no calls where made or received at that time. She then turns around and tells me not to worry and that I can go with a verbal warning.....

Can't believe that she was trying to get money out of me for a false traffic offense...

This is insane. Can she be reported?
Glad you stood up to her and she backed down. Traffic cops are intimidating.

I think you mean traffic officer in black and yellow, they have no rights to issue tickets.

Re: Yes Officer, No Officer

had she undone any of the buttons on her blouse? did she take off her cap and take the clip out of her hair and shake her flowing blonde locks loose? was she pouting suggestively, and breathing heavily drawing your attention to her heaving bosom?

i'll stop now

Re: Yes Officer, No Officer

Similar thing happened to me in SA a couple of years ago, was driving 7 up in a Combi with all the associated luggage, and was pulled for speeding....like heck, that thing couldn't pull a skin off a rice pudding....anyway, copper says R200 fine....I quickly work out the exchange rate, only about 14 quid, so I hands it over....he pockets the cash, no paper work, no ticket, nothing and I go chugging on my way...

Re: Yes Officer, No Officer

Traffic 'officials' in SA always seem to be hunting for a bribe i have been pulled off the highway for putting a wheel over the solid line, when looking back at the place where the supposed offence took place from the vantage point of the cop, neither me nor my passengers could see the line from about 800m away nevermind where it changed from solid to dotted, after refusing to "sort something out" or my favourite "what can you afford" and explaining that i disagreed with the officer and would fight the fine in court i was given a lower fine for not wearing my seatbelt... again which was supposedly seen through darkened windows with enough time to pull me off at 120km/h, needless to say i do understand the value of a seatbelt and do not travel without it on.

Officers here in my experience are always ready to take a bribe both for legitimate and fabricated offences... and then we wonder why something like 30 000 people are killed on South African roads each year

Re: Yes Officer, No Officer

You can bribe the cops in St Tropez. £1000 normally gets you off doing 100 in a 360 modena.

Re: Yes Officer, No Officer

Why don't you report these officers?

Corruption only works if people stay quiet about it. You're complicit in it continuing if you just put up with it.

A few more years and ZA will be gone the way of "Skim"babwe....

She was no beauty queen :ANYWORD: and I would have run a mile if she started undressing.
I have written a letter to our local news paper, let see if it gets in.

Re: Yes Officer, No Officer

I live in a very small town with about 4 traffic cops and it is SA and it does not help when the whole lot of them is corrupted.
