Moaning Wrecked :-(

Some bloody toerag crashed into my beloved this evening, skidded down the wrong side of the road (in a 30mph zone) into the front of my Alfa. My wife was driving alone, she wasn't hurt thankfully, but I think the suits might write the car off

Re: Wrecked :-(

That sucks, hope your wife doesn't feel any worse after a while.
Cars, even Alfas, can be fixed or replaced, with loved ones, its slightly more difficult.

Re: Wrecked :-(

We're getting a SAAB 9-3 as a courtesy car for the moment, any thoughts on it? I think it might be fun, maybe, perhaps not, I haven't driven a SAAB before they're supposed to be pretty prestigious aren't they? Guess I'll find out tomorrow when they deliver it!

Re: Wrecked :-(

Hey Moose sorry to hear the news. If it's any good there's an indi guy up here in Wishaw tha's supposed to be pretty good and well priced. I know he has a passion for vintage Mercs that he re builds himself. But he also likes Alfas.

Re: Wrecked :-(

Mrs Moose is still in pain but the Doc said that should ease over the next week or two.
The Saab is a nice car all in all, 9-3 estate, 1.9TiD, half-leather seats, 6-speed semi auto box. It shifts! Not the same feeling as the Alfa by a long shot, that feel of the road, being attuned to the behaviour of the car, the Saab doesn't cut it in that respect, too detached. It'll do for now.
Still waiting to hear from the assessor.

Re: Wrecked :-(

WTF is going on this week

I really feel your pain The damage looks very similar to mine. Did you 'bags deploy

What about engine / mechanical damage? Mine's mullered so I'm hoping it'll be a total loss. Insurance has been a PITA today

Like me, at least you're both ok'ish

Cheers,

Re: Wrecked :-(

I know
From what I can see when I looked at the car at the garage, damage seems to be bodywork mainly!
No the airbags didnt deploy ^0^
Lets hope these bu99ers get what they deserve.

Re: Wrecked :-(

Little update,
Repairs are going ahead, costing just over £4000, they reckon on a week for parts, and another week to 10 days actually repairing it.

Mrs was going back to the Doc today, she's still in a lot of pain

Personal injury people made an initial offer of about £600

The Saab does sound like a tractor!

That injury offer is an insult, stick it out and hammer them for being so cheap. My eldest son had a claim settled this week, started at 1100 and ended at 5250.
Hope you get sorted OK with everything
