Old thread revival

I'd like to nominate Samsung's New PC Studio software (their name for it!) - designed to connect to mobile phones. Why? Well....

1. It's a nightmare to install and takes forever (if you can actually persuade it to install, which takes some doing in itself).
2. It has really irritating music to annoy you with during the installation.
3. Having installed, it then tries to update itself online and fails miserably.
4. Once you have it running and connect your phone to the USB, it correctly identifies the phone and then starts 'loading' from it. After a full 10 mins of trying to do this, (with no cancel button available to the user), it then either reports error 0xFFFFFFFF or advises you to reconnect the phone or restart the program.
5. The whole program has a really naff look and feel to it and reminds me of some of the really early stuff produced for Windows 3.1

Overall - nil points for Samsung. Totally useless software.

Ooh I forgot one:

6. When you start the software, it plays a recording of women giggling..... think that says it all really.

Npower, completely inept and unable to rationalise a uplift of 5000 units n our account since moving our gas to them in September. Hopefully get some resolution now it's been escalated to customer complaints...

What a great revival. Like looking back in time. How interesting to see that Nokia were just starting to slide down a slippery slope into oblivion. Do AOL still exist?? Seperate GPS receivers for phones. Even 4 years ago the world seemed a more simple place.

I used to enjoy Bodger's posts, he knew some good stuff, he doesn't come on here very often now.

Vanish carpet cleaner foam is absolutely useless.

A nail brush and washing up liquid is much better at removing toddler sick, oil and general dirt from our carpet.

Bodger was a very interesting guy 1D6, as was wrenched and a few others that I can't recall by title now. Vastly different range of folk on here now, with a few old die hards being the exception of course. :

Canon

My camera broke weeks ago. I e-mailed canon who told me to contact their authorised repairer. I did and they said send it to us with prooof of purchase. I did 4 weeks ago and heard nothing. 2 weeks ago ago I e-mailed them and they said yes, we've got it, it's in our workshop awaiting attention. I e-mailed them again yesterday and the agent responded to say that the parts for mine are on back order so they are going to replace the camera. However, rather than Canon sending me one, they are sending it to the agent who will then send it to me.

I fully expect to e-mail them in a fortnight to be told that Canon haven't got any cameras so are sending me a toaster instead.

Can I also mention the cheapo combined hand and foot brake calipers on cars that don't need 4-wheel discs anyway? The handbrake is crap and they seize up.

While on the subject of GM, the stupid indicators on Vectras and whatever else. The bloke who dreamed them up wants a good beating not just for the annoyance he causes owners but for every other road user who has to try to figure out which way the buggers intend to turn.

That my friend is worthy of a full blown rant on its own. I would love to meet whatever cretin came up with the idea and shake him firmly by the throat.

It isn't just GM, I have seen it on Audis and VW's as well.

If the brakes are on you cannot see the indicators because they are in the middle of the brake light

Whoever thought it would be easy to see three bright amber LED's in the middle of around 20 bright red ones was an idiot.

National Rail Enquiries website...
What a ******* joke, no wonder people get ripped off for rail travel..

Just been trying to book a ticket for the missus to spend a week with her mum

Put in the from which station to where date time etc then the return journey time and
date etc...
1st lot comes up the opposite way round

Put in the details again and up pops the info @ £49 one way

In goes the info once more and its £48.50 return but wrong times

Alter the times to suit and it's now £40.20 off peak return

Used the filter engine and ditched the 1st class and anytime options
Double check everything and it goes to £76.76 for 2 singles... WTF

Try once more and it's £136 odd for 2 singles ...FFS

No wonder the UK rail network is a ******* shambles

Try trainline: buy cheap train tickets, get UK train times & fares - book seats online. Much better than national rail enquiries. Or go in the car.

To be honest, if I get started on the things I hate about modern cars we'll be here all night. The unbelievably bright lights being but one issue. I can't remember the last time I drove on a road with no streetlights and I don't see how driving around with us all blinding each other helps anything.

I have made a vow that my 156 is the newest car I will ever own.

Car was the 1st option (any excuse to take the Alfa out) but going to the CS do tomorrow
then it would mean driving up to Preston drop her off then drive back to Nottingham

Since the tight wad don't chip in for fuel, she can make her own way
Cheers for the link though can't be any worse...

I'd have to disagree here It's all in the method. Spray the foam onto the carpet and work it in well with a sponge. Spray it again so that the offending area is completely covered in foam. Leave it to dry completely - this may take a day or so. When it is completely dry, vacuum the carpet. Really bad stains like beer / wine may take a few applications, but the stuff definitely works. It just takes time.
