Hmmm ARGH!!!! Bloody electrics!

Since I acquired my 147 earlier this year, I have had two replacement Connect + units, a new battery and many hours in the shop trying to sort out my electrical gremlins. I thought the battery solved it as I had a month problem free.

However, I now have intermittent immobiliser and ASR/ESP failures (restarting normally clears these), my cd changer is frozen on cd 4, track 52770 and if I unlock my boot without unlocking the car first even odds if the alarm will go off or not!

Back to the garage on Friday.

Thanks for the rant. I feel moderately better.

Re: ARGH!!!! Bloody electrics!

How many Km's of wiring on a modern car, such as a 147? Decent long walk? Hate checking those wires, connectors, fuses, plugs, relays, earths, sensors, etc.etc. Reckon the electronics belong in a TV warehouse/shop!

That one's easy, unscrew the rubber bungs
(on the bottom of the boot hatch) half a turn of so.

Re: ARGH!!!! Bloody electrics!

Right well i have to say perrys amersham were very good service wise, only downside was i got a courtesy car with no petrol in it.

Thier verdict was:
Blown Brake Light Fuse
Fault on the ABS/ECU pump, they couldnt find anything wrong, so cleared the errors & reprogrammed the unit, asking me to see if the errors come back (£800 to replace if they do!!)

oh and rear pads are worn out, but im having a hard time recalling a visit to any main dealer where they havent said the rear pads are worn out!

Re: ARGH!!!! Bloody electrics!

I also received a courtesy car with no petrol! However you can go quite far on £5 in a Punto 1.2!

Cd changer was diagnosed as dead (swapped in another to test) but as I had supplied not covered by warranty - I fiddled with it today and discovered there was a loose connection so that is sorted. Steering wheel controls are faulty and are on order.

No problems with the immobiliser or the brake electronics when diagnosed so both were reset. Of course, I set the alarm off this morning <sigh> when I opened the year hatch.

On balance, mostly sorted. Will keep at the electronics and keep you posted.
