Tom Chilton !!

What a complete t:swear:t he made himself look on National TV yesterday !!

I wish he'd get over his problem with Jason Plato and get on with the racing and stop being the total f:swear:ing pr1ck that he is !!

(For those of you that don't know he waffled on about how he didn't let things wind him up... didn't bear grudges etc. in a pre-recorded interview and then slagged JP of when interviewed whilst sitting in his car before the 3rd race at Brands Hatch )

Yes JP was on the kerb but you'd squeezed him and didn't give him 'racing room' did you and therefore ruined both your races you f:swear:king numpty

Re: Tom Chilton !!

I didn't see any of the racing this weekend, but I'm all for anyone giving that posing tool Plato back some of the argy-bargy he constantly gives out. Thinks just because he presented a (sub-standard) driving programme, he's superior to the rest.
Plato is constantly pushing the rules where contact is concerned, but cries like a girl if anyone does the same to him. It was brilliant the other week, just before the race Plato was supposedly saying how great Geovanardi is (although it was actually an ill-concealed go at how crap Matt Neal apparently is) and then during the race Geo took him out spectacularly. Nearly wet myself

That was the great thing, Geo just speared him straight off the track, no rubbing involved
I don't know Chilton really, haven't been keeping up with it the last few years.

Re: Tom Chilton !!

I like JP, but lost a bit of respect fro hum when he bailed from the ASCAR series (now SCSA) after telling everyone how much he loved oval racing, and he was in it for the long haul and how he wanted to win races and make the championship a great success and how it was more exciting than BTCC (It probably was at the time, although by the viewing figures, not many would have realised it)

After a year or running in the midfield without a hint of a victory he packed up and headed back to the BTCC with his tail betwen his legs. A shame really because he's a talented racer, no doubt about that.

And an offer of a 'fat wad of cash' from VAG of course

A smart move on JP's part IMO (Remember SEAT were classed as a bit of a joke when they first came to the BTCC but JP had the foresight to see that VAG were beind the Touring Car programme )

How cynical

You're right abuot it being a great career move for JP though, gave him the chance to stick 2 fingers up at the BTCC heirachy who had seen viewing figures slump and had recieved a lot of abuse from JP fans for letting him go oval racing in the first place. He was (in their eyes) the star of the show. (Always thought Muller was, myself, and Menu before that)

Just disapointing from ASCAR's point of view, having Plato on board was a massive coup for them , coupled with guest appearances from Colin McRae and numerous stateside NASCAR drivers (albeit not big names) and the series was looking really strong for a wee while. It was certainly the most entertaining racing in the country at that time (IMO of course)

Oh I dunno. I thought Driven was a rather credible alternative to Top Gear.

I agree with what Bazza has said. There has been numerous times Plato has barged his way through and got away with it. That incident with Giovanardi and Plato in the third race at Snetterton, Plato drove into Giovanardi with Plato claiming that both his mirrors had been knocked off so he didn't see him. Well after the incident, both mirrors on Plato's car looked intact to me!!

Plato's ego serves as a weight penalty.

Agreed.... in all the pictures JP's mirrors are still there !!

Hmm but seems Gio didn't have a problem with what JP did and even says he's not a woman so 'didn't back off when JP tried to shut the door' Race 3 Report but he did gainthe place.... maybe his view on the incident may have been different if the final race positions had been reversed !!

Re: Tom Chilton !!

Sorry Gnomes, I appear to have turned this into a Plato bashing thread.
If it's any consolation, I hated Yvan Muller for very similar reasons. Part arrogance (and I agree that is somewhat necessary), part double-standards.

No worries B

I can see why people dislike JP and I've seen his demeanour change since he got his presenting gig but he does have that 'I know I'm good' persona that most accomplished racing drivers have though !! Sure he's done stuff wrong - as have many others - but at least now he can hold his hands up and say 'Sorry my fault' but not often !!

Ooooo....don't get my started on that c:swear: Muller !!

(Maybe someone could ask Thommo for his opinion of Muller )

Re: Tom Chilton !!

It's strange, I quite like Muller but can't stand JP. I accept that he is a talented driver but he is involved in practically every 'big' incident and always seems to get away with it. He has always been a whinger too, remember when he was team mate to Alain Menu?

Anyway sorry to rant. Changing subject, did you see Geovanardi outbraking himself in the third race and then catching the almighty slide?

Catching the big slide after he'd hit Mike Jordan's race leading Honda and spun him out of the lead you mean

Shame poor old Mike didn't make the same recovery eh !!

How come Matt Jackson got a 5 place penalty for making a mistake and causing a racing incident (IMO) yet Giovanardi gets away with **** all for that move

Yes, I think Geovanardi was distracted by the BMW challenging from behind and completely missed his braking point. Unfortunate for Jordan but still a great bit of recovery from Geovanardi.

I also thought it was very harsh on Jackson. I don't think what he did was any worse than Plato on Chilton. Guess which one didn't get penalised?

There seems to be a lack of consistency in applying the rules.
