New Highway Code?

I must have missed it but the highway code has been updated. Anyone got a new copy they could check? I mean, the number of women driving people carriers who are on their mobiles while transporting junior to school or nursery it must be legal now mustn't it?

Re: New Highway Code?

Is there such a document anymore

I thought it was just a free-for-all/ignore-red-lights/get-the-****-outta-my-way-as-I'm-more-important-than-you type thing going on the UK's roads now

Re: New Highway Code?

Gets right on my Wick people driving and on there phones. It is illegal, and there should be a better way to inforce the law.

People also think if they pull over in the most god damn stupidist of places they can also speak on the phone without getting a fine

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

buy a hands free kit if it is so important

Re: New Highway Code?

Ah, I agree in urban areas the highway code is no longer in force nomad but the phone thing occurs everywhere!

Why is it that the drivers who are carrying the most valuable load they could, their own children, think it is ok to flout the law and do something which everyone would widely acknowledge affects your ability to drive safely!

Re: New Highway Code?

It is absolutly crazy, and another thing that cracks me up, is people who try to text whilst driving, and they do it discreatly, it is so bloody obvious.

You have to feel sorry for the people they crash in to

You can guarantee the moment you do something wrong in the car, like drive correctly, you will be pulled over and have the book thrown at you

People seem to get away with murder, and the people that do things by the book are the ones who are penalised.

Re: New Highway Code?

Up here in Jockland it tends to be whitevanman, lorry drivers and bizaarly drivers of flash motors, e.g. Mercs, BMWs (ofcourse), Lotus (WTF?) and as large a 4x4 you can find (sorry Gary).

Re: New Highway Code?

what are you going to do about it?

I once chased someone who tried to ram in me into a parked car for miles (I was that incensed) and when he finally parked up and I confronted him he had been completely oblivious of the fact.

Didn't make me feel any better either.

Re: New Highway Code?

What can we do about it indeed???

I think 9 times out of 10 people are oblivious to the fact that they have done something wrong because they have not even bothered to read the high way code let alone put it in to practice

Re: New Highway Code?

the phone ban has been so widely publisized you'd think everyone would know about it. It just really gets my goat that the worst offenders and they must be at least 8/10, are mums with their kids! WTF!!! Can you imagine the stink they'd kick up if their precious child was in a school bus and the driver used his mobile? Or if someone hit them and they were on the phone? Double standards!

Re: New Highway Code?

Ummmmmmmm

I don't live near a school and I catch the tube to work, so I don't really see much of that, but I have to totally agree

Same reason as BMWs. They think they're more important than anyone else.

Re: New Highway Code?

does my head in! i stay near the centre markings if i see a motorbike, and near the kerb if i see a bike. it annoys me when they think they can go thru red lights, or zoom past all the traffic that i have been waiting in for half an hour!

Agreed about the Red Lights K as it's just plain fecking dangerous but why stop them going down the inside/outside of queuing cars though
