Madness thieving bastid muddy funsters.

Some thieving **** stole both my numberplates yesterday/last night.

Bastid(s)

I have been to Halfords and now have a freshly drilled set to fit, but as it hasn't stopped raining today I've not had a chance to fit them.

I reported it to the local cop shop as soon as I noticed, and apparently 'they' do it to either steal petrol or avoid the congestion charge - personally I'd congest them with petrol and de-congest them with a lighted match.

Why can't people just get on with their own lives and not go out of their way to **** up other people?

Oooo, I'm cross, but at least they didn't damage the car I suppose, but there again, why should I feel lucky as it shouldn't have been feckin touched in the first place!

Phew

Rant over.

Watch your reg. plates people!

good job you've reported it, more likely to be used for cloning, someone will soon be the proud owner of a car pretty similar to yours, even the same reg number

Re: thieving bastid muddy funsters.

Good point, Kev.

I don't mind posting my reg number on here if it helps others to avoid buying a 'moody' 156, but I presume it'd up to the mods.

Mods?

Re: thieving bastid muddy funsters.

scary thing is, even if someone goes and looks at what seems a nice car and even rings up for an hpi check to be safe will give YOUR reg and get the all clear, don't know if the cops contact hpi and tell them to look out for any enquiries? or whether you could get in touch with them? last thing you want is any grief why do people have to be such tw*ts you just can't get along in life can you, gggrrrrr

I'm going to ring the DVLA tomorrow to let them know what's happened, so hopefully that may save someone some heart (and wallet) ache.

Defintely get it on record with the police that your plates were taken,
since they will be used for a crime somewhere I'm sure.

BTW expect lots of speeding tickets in the post..

Re: thieving bastid muddy funsters.

someone I know had the plates made different, eg had a Welsh flag in the corner in their case, so if it was used on a ringed car it could be proven it was not them. Good idea I thought.

HTH

I think if they were going to clone your car i think they'd just make the plates up& not draw attention to the fact that there's a clone of your car out there. If they're going to nick petrol they don't care whether you know they've got your plates

Re: thieving bastid muddy funsters.

Have a quick search of eBay for a 156 2.5 V6 in the same colour as yours. Often they will steal a car, then steal plates off an identical car (model, colour, year) so that it looks kosher if the customer does a vehicle identity check.

You should fit your number plate with one way screws, but a strong adhesive will probably work OK. I believe modern plates are being made thinner and more brittle so that they will shatter (like a car window) if you try to remove them.

Ooooh, I hope Ken is enjoying the experience.

On a serious note, I would suggest that you phone the Congestion Charge office and inform them of the theft. They have a habit of sending Bailliffs in smartish, without worrying about the facts too much.

Re: thieving bastid muddy funsters.

I'm beginning to think it could be for a clone, as why select mine when there must have been other cars in the car park which were more hidden and therefore easier to steal (not that I'd wish it on anyone else though).

Re: thieving bastid muddy funsters.

What you should is on the back ff your new plate get some industrial double sided tape and put it on. Right on the edge of the plate then a load in the centre.

When they try and take it off it will break.
