Re: Parent and toddler parking bays!!
At my local tesco's there is a row of the people with children bays, and there also 2 normal bays in that row, and a bay for motor cycles. Now a couple of weeks ago I park in one of the free bays and as I got out of the car I was accosted by a over-righteous parent asking if I was aware that I'd parked in a bay reserved for people like him. I tried to explain he was in the wrong, that it was a normal bay, but he was an arse. Eventually I moved my car, not because he was right, not because I felt bad for him having to manage his children, but because I'd just picked up my new GT not 2 hours before, and had a concern over vandalism from this sanctimonious parent.
It bugs me that people are so precious about their children, and their rights to comfort as a parent. You had the damn kids knowing what a burden they would be. Just like th old smoking argument, why do I have to make a sacrifice to indulge a parents selfishness?
Same goes for baby on board signs. I'm already driving not to have a crash because I love my car to death. I'm not going to try harder because your most precious possessions are in the back. I'm already at 100% avoidance. I like kids, I don't have any, but I love my nephew, so I get the parenty thing (as much as I can ATM). Still, I don't have the same affection for other peoples kids.
If someone's suggesting I have to avoid parking next to someone with kid seats, well I buy that, because thats the way the world has gone. But I hope, I really hope that if someones at least got an Alfa, they've educated their kids NOT to swing open doors, and if the kids are too thick to learn, leave the child locks on the door until they do learn to treat the car with respect!
