Re: Tax

A French one, yes?

I don't get a tax return from the Inland Revenue any more, I'm PAYE and deemed to be too boring! Every box had 'n/a' in it.

Re: Tax

Normally it's easy. You fill your net
salary (after "NI") into 1 box.

But I've got 2 (legal) tax avoidance rental
properties and the paperwork is a real pain in
the arse.

I also pay tax monthly (by choice)
as when I first came here I'd spent the
tax money come September.
Monthly means they calculate the difference and
you pay that in October and November.

Ho hum.

Re: Tax

Yes, it pays for all the things the govt doesn't give us...like good roads, good health service, good education, etc, etc...

Re: Tax

Indeed, a man with a bullet-proof pension (after he raided UK company pension pots to the tune of 10's billions) and who has had enormous above-inflation payrises over the last few years like the rest of Parliament. Still, at least he didn't get a mortgage by dodgy means to buy a large house like the rest of New Labour seemingly did. Mind you, he didn't have to, he's been such a friend of big business during his tenure, he'll be on the Boards of at least 10 big companies when he's had enough of being PM, that should see him alright. I used to think it was only Tory politicians who saw govt. as being a lucrative career, how could I have been so naive?
