Moaning 'Hot' Skodas

What is it with those Skoda Octavia/Fabia VRs cars?

I mean, specifically, whenever you see one it will be approximately two foot from your rear bumper or overtaking you in a cloud of black smoke (I presume lots of them are diesel).

They are inevitably driven by a balding man who has managed to persude his partner that he is making a sensible car choice although he couldn't justify to himself or her a VW Gti or even a decent Seat, so went for the budget option.
''It says in What Car that they are great''

He was swayed in this decision by the Green Brake Calipers (ffs!) and the silly little double exhaust that looks like it's made of a couple of sardine tins welded together.

AND he drives it like an utter tw*t.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Strangely, this exact thing happened to me yesterday.

A red Octavia RS I think.

Spooky

Just me who doesn't mind the Fabia vRS and would give serious thought to getting one if I needed something a bit more 'sensible.'

Your not the only one! I was considering the Fabia vRS. I went on a test drive in one (the first high power diesel I've driven) and it was very good. Reasonable ride, good handling, the engine is superb as well. I don't mind the looks, but its a bit uninspired really.

Re: 'Hot' Skodas

We've had four low powered Skodas as our home runabout...Outstanding cars every one, and we've done well over 400,000 miles in them in total over the last 17 years.

At work we have a red VRS Octavia hack that was new in 2001. It done about 170,000 miles now, still goes like a train and the only fault has been the inevitable VAG coil pack failure..twice. Needless to say its highly thought of by those who use it.

So why do I drive Alfas???? I like them..simple as that. , but I wouldn't turn my nose up at a FabiaVrs or OctyVrs

Re: 'Hot' Skodas

I was so close to getting an Octavia VrS instead of my old 156...just didn't have the same 'feel' to it but it was still a hell of a car.

I would have one any day over a VW!

Re: 'Hot' Skodas

Check my name, use it on another forum. Had an Octavia vRS modded by Jabba Sport, 236bhp. Yep it had green calipers - Skoda Motorsport colours. Can not see the problem when they are OEM. Red on an Alfa GTA, Yellow on a 911 with ceramics. Would look daft on a little 1.6 driven by a chav or a twit.

It was a seriously quick car once you got it rolling, and would do 159 true on GPS. Luckily no 147 1.6 in my way tut tuting on the autobhan to Hamburg

I did not drive like an utter tw*t, no more than I think all Alfa 147 1.6 are driven by lads with pen*s envy and live at home with mummy - glad I got that off my chest .....

Re: 'Hot' Skodas

They still do the 1.9 SDI - a normally aspirated 1.9 diesel - in the Fabia

It packs a whopping 63 horses and pulls quickly through the gears to 62mph in an earth-shattering 19 seconds... lol

Oh nice one, said without a hint of irony that my friend.

Glad that your modded Skoda could do 159, presumably that's the length in microns of your 'pen*s'?

Wife has a Fabia VRs, fine car if uninspired interior. Pull the bonnet up and everything is stamped VW/Audi.

Lighten up Norbert, I was only having a dig at stereotypes, and setting myself up as one by quoting a big speed, that was the irony, and as for my little willie, have you been looking?

Fair play, no offence intended, just that I got overtaken by a couple over the weekend..

Time of the month I guess.
