road rage

Was leaving my pregnant sister to the train station this afternoon and was driving towards a car that was parked on the right hand side of the road, comin the other way was another car. With room for only one car i took the right of way as the parked car was on their side and i was closer to it than they were. The woman driving continued on and both of us hadda jam on the brakes to avoid a collision.

The passenger which im guessing was her husband starting going absolutely nuts (and i mean nuts) and his wife was grabbing onto his arm then i realised she was grabbing him cause he was trying to get out, i stated laughing at this scene as it was pretty funny how angry he was when i hadnt done a thing wrong. By this stage he was outta his car giving me an my sister the finger repeatedly and was totally purple faced and shouting abuse right at us, we were still giggling at this guy, he was like a caricture of an angry middle-aged man. so i got out of my car and as soon as i got out he jumped back into his car in a flash and as i approached he locked his door, and sat there not looking up and whispering to his wife, (ignoring me cause i might go away?) i stood there for a bit waiting for him to wind the window down or summant and i eventually pointed out that unless i moved my car he was going nowhere.

When he opened a wee gap at the top i said in the calmest most patronising voice ever

"i see your very keen to discuss the rights and wrongs of what happened here, im in no hurry so lets sit here and debate about it, you can make your case and ill make my rebuttle, then ill make my case and you can make your rebuttle, we can break for tea round 6 and resume at about 6.30, does that sound fair to you?"

lol he must have thought i was on crack or somethin lol really didnt know what to say an by this stage my sister was laughin her ass off aswell, poor man so much anger and aggression and not a clue. had i been an angry person i could beat him black an blue so why oh why did he get out of his car to shout abuse at us, even worse i coulda been some nutter with a gun/knife or something.

road rage eh whats the point, just chillax ;D

Re: road rage

Found the bit about him jumping back into his car very funny. Are you a big bloke Decky? But you exactly right about the nutter thing, you never know in this day and age so it could have been a lot worse for him. There is just so much more important/bigger things to get that angry about in this life than what occurred there.

Tough Guy ,

always good if you can remain calm, but better if you can look slightly imbalanced at the same time ,

'Speak softly and carry a big stick'

Nice story Decky and the best way to approach a possible 'flash' situation.

And "prior hystery" I bet...

And it pays off to look a bit off balanced as well. Especially with a smile that denotes you're about to enjoy whatever lunacy you're about to do.

nah im not particularly big 6ft an about 14st so a little bigger than average but im not 'built' or anything just found the situation a bit surreal and thought acting a bit odd might put him off ever doing this to someone again cause chances are he has tried to intimidate ppl before.
