Madness People who talk during films

Last night Sue and I went to see "Perfume: Story of a MUrder" at out local arts cinema at the Theatre Clwyd in Mold.

Our viewing pleasure was in part ruined by the old man and the woman sitting next to us, who had to 'gwarf' at inappropriate moments during the film, and give each other a running commentary about what was going on

If they want to talk whilst watching a film why can't the to55ers stay in the comfort of their own homes and watch it on video

I'm sure I remember going there when it was a theatre? Has that side of it closed now? Is it just a cinema?

Sue did at the end - I wish I had done during the film, but that might have caused even more disturbance to other people in the cinema.

The funny thing was it turned out we had parked next to them in the car park

that could be a wee bit messy...blood and all, especially if you are wearing your "sunday best"...how about poison administered via a dart to the neck...quick and leaving virtually no "tell tale" signs of foul play

I find "Shut the fvck up!" works quite well,
but if it persists, then a Tazer would be a good
back up solution.

Re: People who talk during films

I used to work as a cinema manager in my last job. Blethering eejits spoiled my enjoyment so many times that I couldn't bear to watch a film with the public anymore. Luckily,. . perks of the job and a partner who also happened to be the senior projectionist, allowed me the privilege of watching new prints in an auditorium all to myself! Bliss!!!! I miss that! (I no longer work there and I'm no longer with my now ex-partner....ah well!)

Don't really like going to the cinema anymore. Much prefer to watch a movie at home.

should be little zappers in each seat, the usher could press a button and give the talkers a bit of a jolt mean or what

Re: People who talk during films

A few years ago there were a group of about 20 people sitting in the first couple of rows who would not stop talking. After about 10 minutes I walked down to the front, turned and faced them and shouted:-

" Oi - If you lot actually watched the film you would not have to keep asking each other what it was about - SHUT UP"

Amazingly enough they did - probably the first time they had been shouted at in public by a demented garden gnome lookalike.

These days Liz and I go to matinees in school term time - great as you get the place to yourselves.

Same here...I used to love going to the cinema but I got sick of ignorant and noisy people

Been having themed movie nights with the kids this last few weeks and it has been great. Watched the extended cuts of the Lord of the Rings trilogy last week over three nights and finished watching the Die Hard trilogy last night

Next up is all six Star Wars movies

Wish someone has sparked up some conversation when I went to see sunshine at the weekend, it might have been more interesting then.

Re: People who talk during films

Reminds me of a story:

My friends tell me that I said this, but I honestly don't remember.

The first time I introduced my new girlfriend (now my wife) to my friends was at a cinema in Dublin. The first of the new batch of Star Wars movies was released, and being SWs buffs we went to see it. My GF was not really into SWs and could not really remember the first 3 movies.

So anyway, we are sitting beside each other and about 1 minute into the movie she leans over to me and asks me a question about a character. Apparantly I answered her question, and followed up by saying, "By the way, that is the first, and last, question I am going to answer until the movie is over".....

My wife has a laugh that can clear a cinema and has. Our kids refuse to go with her.

Oh lighten up people

It's the cinema, people are there to enjoy themselves. If they are loud enough to disturb you, ask them to be quiet. That's what I do

Yeah but if enjoying themselves simply means sitting next to you and texting on their mobile constantly and then telling their friends what every text they get says, you have to wonder why the have paid £5 to sit in the cinema

Re: People who talk during films

Gotta agree with alot of the comments here, I hate going to the cinema when it's really busy cos i always seem to get annoying people that talk all the way through it sat near, or annoying ****s that kick the back of my chair in time to the music and as i've got a bad back normally anyway is pretty ****in annoying!

Re: People who talk during films

The whole thing went downhill, imho, when they installed popcorn holders between the seats.

I can understand that they think people are so thick that they will buy lukewarm polystyrene offcuts to eat - but to imply that they are so debased that they cannot hold onto a tub of the stuff without support
is just plain insulting.

Re: People who talk during films

I must admit a bunch of friends and myself ruined a movie once, it was John Woo's Face Off.

We started watching it seriously, well normally i.e. quietly, like everybody else...

And then at some point, some surgeon has to exchange Travolta's and Cage's faces. They're both asleep, chest-naked, and you can see what literally is a very dense patch of hair on their pectorals, and otherwise no hair around that, at all. At that point I started smiling...

Then the surgeon cuts through their skin with some ridiculously little laser-like pen, then a mask comes down and takes Cage's face off... with a funny suction noise!

That was it, a bunch of us had a laugh at that, and the movie went more and more ridiculously unrealistic by the second. We couldn't control ourselves, and soon a large part of the theatre was laughing at every ridiculously unrealistic stunt. i.e. all of them, each one every 2mn or so.

Since then, I have forced myself not to go watch blockbuster action movies without reading the review first, especially those by John Woo.

I skipped on that rule once, and that was for "Once Upon a Time in Mexico", because some other friends really wanted to go. Huge laughs again...
