People who repetitively call you...

... whilst you're on the other line or
in a meeting.

You'd think after ringing 6 times and not getting
through they'd have some freakin' sense to use
the voicemail.

Live a friggin' message FFS!!!

(An apology: I think this maybe the 2nd time I've ranted
about this, but it makes me so mad I thought
I'd mention it twice.)

God Nev, after the first time you'd told us all, didn't you think to just post in the same thread? :cad:

Definately the best idea for meetings. I have more of a problem with people who answer their phones in meetings. Total lack of respect (except in special cases).

Even if they answer just to say "I'm in a meeting, I'll call you back" and hang up? That's what I, and most of my colleagues do.

Re: People who repetitively call you...

If I forget to switch off the phones and one of them rings, I just hit the red call button and it automatically diverts to answerphone.

Then I switch it off

Re: People who repetitively call you...

Fair point Nev, but I'd hope they'd get the hint after being directed to the answerphone a few times.

Not all of them do,mind........

Yep. 'Fraid so. I have colleagues who take that approach and it is still a disrupion to the meeting and they inevitably get asked questions anyway so it's not necessarily a short interruption.

If you can't talk, then it shouldn't be on. The answerphone effectively gives the same message! Same for driving. You can even change the standard voicemail message to say 'i'm driving or in a meeting' etc etc. That way people get an explanation and don't immediately think they are being ignored.

Of course there are always exceptions (serious/urgent calls you are expecting etc) but otherwise IMO it's just part of good meeting etiquette.

60% of the time it works everytime.
