:(Ive just sat thru 2 hours of the grand prix, thank f--k i havent brought tickets for silverstone. In 10yrs of watching f1 i have never seen such a boring drawn out race, even the master himself said with the new rules there will be no racing just a procession of very exspensive cars.COME ON F1 the new rules for 2011 should be

engine size 2000cc
turbo
slick tyres
drivers that are going to race to the last lap
tyre changes
fuel stops
no pit lane speed limit
gear stick

come on f1 2010 is going to be worse than 2009

can someone put me in touch with the rule makers of f1.

2hours of boredom.....the only one doing any overtaking was Hulkenberg due to his early pit-stop, the cameras would have been better concentrating on him and not the prossesion up front......

I think the lack of refuelling stops has made it even more boring than before. Although after one race it is difficult to say for sure.

We do need to make cars like they were in the 80's. More crude mechanically, but with modern safety features.

I think the OP got it pretty much spot on, but make the cars have cast iron brakes as well, then we will see some outbraking.

Refueling is nothing to do with the boredom, in F1's greatest era's there was no refueling.

The problem is the reliance on aerodynamic downforce rather than mechanical, this is what makes passing so difficult.

I'm pleased that they have stopped refueling..............the whole idea of a sprint race inbetween pitstops never materialised anyway, and pit strategy got in the way of drivers doing their work on the track. I think that the nature of the new Barhain track layout didn't help the overtaking issue................give it time, the season has only just begun. New teams,(great to see the Lotus livery back), at least 5 or 6 drivers that could take the title, and the frenzy of a 3 second pitstop simply make this a season to embrace for me. Bring on July, 3 days of beer, fast cars, and hopefully sunshine!

I am wondering how long it will be before someone is injured in the pits.

Probably from a flying wheel or from a driver leaving the pits with the windy gun still attached.

These superfast stops don't leave much room for error.

I ended up taking the dog for a walk, massive anti-climax but glad Ferrari got a 1 - 2, but probably wouldn't have if Vettel's car didn't have a woopsie moment.

I did think that Webber's car had been prepped by Q from the bond films, deploying his smoke cloud too early though ;)

they should remove all rules and regs, the skys the limit, as long as its open wheeled do what you want. huge turbos, nitrous, superchargers, huge wings, little wings, oh and drivers who give a damn. touring car drivers in F1, now that would be fun.

alas it will never hapen. way too dangerous.

did they forget to let the public in yesterday? there was nobody at the track, the cinic in me thinks bahrain only has the GP because they stuffed a huge wad in the poison dwarfs back pocket, but i could be way off the mark:rolleyes:

just before the friday practice on the red button they showed the 1982 SA GP, way more entertaining than that dross yesterday.

It would also be incredibly boring and would favour the bigger, richer teams so hugely that nobody else would bother competing.

Wings should be banned. Control tyres used. Horsepower limits introduced, but allow the teams to reach that horsepower however they feel is best.

Stricter regs, not looser, would provide a far better spectacle.

It was a rubbish race, but the need to overtake on track that's supposed to have been engineered isn't going to materialise until much later in the season. There's no point diving down the inside when there's not quite enough room and making a mess of it in the first race as you'll lose any points you could have got by staying where you were (and leave you a race behind everyone else), but in the last couple of races when one or two points could make the difference to who wins the championship that kind of gamble starts to make more sense.

Just means it'll be garbage until then unfortunately.

i agree with getting rid of downforce (the teams want to keep the wings for advertising space of course but they could be made to produce zero downforce,... like the one on my gtv:)), what i cant figure out is when mansell and senna were battling all those years ago they were heavily depenent on downforce too, so what has really changed? where has the racing gone?

Tyres would have played a huge part in the changes, back then tyres had to last the whole of the racce, and had to be nursed to the end.

Fresh, modern rubber gives the cars so much grip for so long, that the idea of looking after them is ridiculous.
