So what's this MiTos are for girls stuff?

Some forum members seem to be posting a load of rubbish about the MiTo, which is the first Alfa since the 70s that has interested me.

Back then both my Alfas were great to drive, but had to be sold after 2 years before the bodies disappeared.

I had many a fine car back then, including Aston DB5, Jags, Mercedes SL and a Porsche 911 SC Sport, but always really wanted something smaller.

Now I have found the MiTo which I think ticks all my boxes and you call it a girl's car.

What a load of old cobblers!

James

Its only an opinion.
Which i fully agree with.
It is a girls car.
It is a supermini and its a direct rival of the mini which is driven by girls and estate agents.
Which resoundly brings me to the conclusion that it is a bit of a fairys car.
That oh so cute front end doesnt help either.
And if you think for one minute that it is even slightly masculin you obviously have a soft spot for pink shirts and drinking cocktails in back street nightclubs in Brighton.

I've NEVER said it was a girls car.

Although I fully admit to saying that It's among the fugliest things on the road

I don't think they are girls cars! The original 60s mini was a small car that you could describe as 'cute' if you felt that way inclined but that wasn't a girls car
The GTA mito looks in my opinion!

You wouldn't recognise a good car if it bit you.

My wife thinks the MiTo is the sweetest, cuddliest, smiliest, cartoonie mini car since the Mickey Mouse Topolino? She says she'll give up buying shoes and handbags for a while to have one. Now who am I a mere male to question an assertive female who dominates me?

If you look to the left of this writing you will see the car i drive on a daily basis.
An alfa 156. And as far as im aware it hasnt bit me yet.
Which blows your theory out of the water.
And for the record i can spot a girls car long before it has bitten me.

Oh yes the 156, tried to compete with the BMW 3 series if I remember right.

Pity it didn't try harder to be an Alfa though.

Be ashamed. This is possibly one of the most homophobic posts I've read in a while.

Oh come on.
It was said with tongue firmly in cheek. Lets not turn this site in to a nanny state.

Had the 156 been more 'like an Alfa' as you suggest then the MiTo probably wouldn't have been made.

Alfa most likely wouldn't be here now.

i think the MiTo is not necessarily a girls car, blokes can drive them and not look like complete fannies. its just one of those cars that suits the girls a hell of a lot more than the blokes thats all. if you dont like it then thats your problem, not ours and i dont think you should be having a pop at every AOer that disagrees with you. it is your opinion on the car and you are entitled to it, just like we are all entitled to our opinion on the same car.

Really? Was it? How easy it is then to misinterpret when a tongue cannot be seen in one's cheek.

But it didn't really hit the spot did it?

The 156, had fingernail-bending rear door handles, an ASBO-standard engine tone and a badge that's obviously shaped to make you think of a woman's front bottom. Surely against a BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 or a Merc C Class, it's a straight case of Germany 3, Italy 0?
The whole point of this thread is that what matters now for Alfa Romeo is the future and snide sniping comments about girlie cars is not going to help that is it?

Lets see some positive support from existing Alfa owners!

I happen to believe that Alfa are now on the path to success and we should support that.

Who said i was having a pop at everyone who disagrees with me. I have just stating my opinion on the matter.
Nothing more and nothing less. Please dont turn this in to a which hunt as it is going that way.
If you read the thread propperly you will see that it was actually me who got the abuse for having my opinion.
Sometimes this place can become quite childish and it disappoints me.
