Was following a thread this morning by Smaky on the protests against British troops - got upto 8 pages or so, now its gone? Did it turn nasty and have to be pulled?

Re: where'd that thread go?

Oh that's the thread where I got branded a racist and was told 'Oh dear Darren, you are better than that',

Usless thread anyway, people only wanted to hear opinions similar or the same to their own, so when I rolled up in there and turned s**t real, they all got offended and started asking me questions I didn't understand,

Re: where'd that thread go?

Maybe people just wanted you to think about the subject and actually form an opinion Darren? Rather than going purely with gut feeling and spouting ill informed stuff?
Let's face it, an attitude of 'I can't be bothered to read pages of other people's opinions - I just want to put my own down and have people read it.", which I believe you stated on there, is hardly showing you up as someone who has insightful things to say on the subject.

Re: where'd that thread go?

I think it got pulled because there was a fear that the minority may get offended.

Never mind the majority though eh?

I think that is a similar situation to the rest of British society, where we fear of saying/doing certain things as to not offend a small minority, and in the process upset all the rest.

[Irony]

Yeah bloody foreigners, going over these and forcing their
beliefs and insisting they be able to celebrate their
customs. Even in the middle of London! What's that all about!?

London St Patrick's Day Celebrations

When's the St. Georges Days parade then!?!

BTW I'm not racist because I know loads of Irish and have
many Irish mates

Re: where'd that thread go?

And those damn English living in Spain and France.
They should be sent packing.

They don't even speak the language so why
should they be allowed to live there?

Send them home I say!!!

Err.....

See Darren, the trouble is when people speak like that about one group
or the other maybe eventually one day you'll find yourself in a group of some
kind, where the majority are pounding on your for probably no reason.
I hope you never do, and chances are if you're a member of the majority,
which I assume you are, it may never happen.

Because when it does it feels like crap and there ain't nothing you can do about it.

I hope you can see a bit of where I'm coming from.
If not. Well hey, I'll just **** off back to where I came from.

Trouble is for someone like me I don't really belong anywhere.
Ho Hum.

I will, just for you, if it'll work. But the words I put alongside it I'll have to try and remember all over again! So, patience, and I'll try again.:

Re: where'd that thread go?

On friday I became the victim of what I would call racial hatred.

From a little man who is the same skin colour and I assume the same 'religeon'.

I'm working on a school on Anglesy N.Wales, I was looking for the caretaker so I asked a teacher (in english) if he had seen him or where he maybe, the teacher would not answer me in English and would only speak Welsh to me infact, it took another nearby teacher to step in and help direct me to where I needed to go. I'd love to smack that guy

Y'see there's the problem. That's not racism.

Whether you choose to speak or not speak a language
is up to you. It's something you, or the bloke in question,
could readily change.

Racism (my view) is where someone singles you out on something
you cannot change about yourself. Your skin colour, physical
features etc. Something that will single you out in a crowd
walking down a street and there is nothing you can do (nor should you)
to change that about yourself.

This is one of the reasons the UK is getting more and more xenophobic
as the years go on, because the "idea" of what is "racist" has become so
diluted and applied to such an overwide range of prejudices that people
now can't stand/be bothered to hear about it when it happens.

Everything gets lumped in as "PC Gone Mad!" including real
racist *** when it happens. And that is fostering a feeling
in some that the good ol' times where you can say what
the **** you like to/about anyone are back.

So your saying you have to be a different skin colour to be a victim of racial hatred?? He's a celt I'm a saxon, two different races correct??

No disrespect, but that just sounds like your not comfortable with who you are??
