I've poured endless hours into Football manager on xbox360. My missus is the ultimate FM widow. When I start playing I can disapear into my own world for days. I've been like it since Championship Manager days years ago on my first PC.
And until recently I'd never had much success at the game. Been sacked from too many clubs in too many countries to name. Been thumped in every competition by lower league clubs every year, and upset every chairman I'd ever worked under.
Until, that is, I started a new game about a year ago. I picked Hereford Utd from the conference. I got them promoted to league 2. Then the following season I won promotion again, up to league 1, despite having to rely largely on free transfers and loan players due to lack of funds.
Then the West Ham job became vacant so as a fan, i obviously applied. And got the job. They were near the bottom of the championship when I took over, and in just over a season I'd got them promoted to the premiership.
So I'm halfway through my first ever season of premiership management, with my pre season relegation tipped side sitting comfortably in 9th place,. I'd just signed the Croatian international 'keeper, and was hoping to push on and maybe grab a European qualifying spot by the end of the year.
And I turned the game on this morning, clicked the load saved game
icon and found:
'Unable to load due to corrupt save game file'
So now i've got to go backand start again in the conference
and i'm fairly sure i'll not be able to get the kind of performance that i managed last time around.
I think I'll always be a Football Manager loser
