Were you parked illegally?
If so it would seem to have been your fault rather than the wardens.

70% of appealed tickets get let off.

Have a look at where your car was parked, check the lines are nicely painted and not broken... at ANY point along the length of the line. Check it has the correct T bar on the end of the line. Measure it, check everything.

If you find one fault, against how it should appear in the highway code, then you can get off on a technicality.

I did it once, admittedly I was parked on a yellow line over night and forgot. I complained that the line was not maintained and in a state of disrepair, sending them a photo. The let me off the ticket, and repainted the lines within the week.

Result.

Re: traffic wardens

I can understand people appealing, but if I was genuinely in the wrong, and I knew I was genuinely in the wrong, then I'd pay up.

Otherwise It'd just be hypocritical to slag off those who park illlegally and get away with it (And I slag them off a lot )

Re: traffic wardens

I would love to be a traffic warden, I love a good ruck! One word of warning, if you were illegally parked on double yellows you are not insured. If something happens to your car your buggered

Woop woop a fellow truck driver! What do you drive class 1 or 2? I'm class 1 and park where I like in that just put my hazards on. Us lorry drivers own the roads you know

Yeah, but there's a difference between parking illegally AND inconsiderately i.e. on a double yellow along a busy high street whilst you pop in to grab a paper, against parking in your own residential street overnight and staying 5 minutes over in the morning.

In the first instance, I'd expect the perpetrator to accept the fine as penance for all the annoyance and trouble he's caused everyone else.

But...

To have to pay 60 to park in your own quiet residential street? Even if you were supposedly guilty, I'd have no problems about using every trick in the book to get off.

There's never a black and white - do the crime, pay the fine. There's always grey areas. If the council let you off, then surely it's worth appealing, as it justifies that you were in the right. If they don't let you off, then pay the fine.

They get so much money off me anyway, I'm not going to give them any more without a fight.

Re: traffic wardens

my mum got a ticket the other week. i would say it serves her right for driving a Vauxhall Vectra but the circumstances permit a bit of sympathy on this one:

we live about 400 yards up a hill from Ewood Park (Blackburn Rovers FC for those who dont know ) we were going to the game on that night and my Alfas were up the drive and her Vectra was parked considerately and totally legally outside OUR OWN HOUSE. we left the house at about 7.15 to go to the game, having noticed that one of these inconsiderate, pathetic, useless scum of the earth traffic wardens had slapped a ticket on her windscreen

i collared one and asked why it had been ticketed and he wouldnt tell me, i am now raging at this point. the thing is, they have talkies linked onto the police and the car was parked outside our house. why couldnt he have just either knocked on our door to check if we know who it belongs to or called through to the fuzz for a vehicle check? these [email protected] have no common sense whatsoever and are ruled by figures, see who can get the most tickets and see who can make the most money for the corrupted coucil and in my opinion deserve every single piece of abuse that they get.

rant over!!

If you had appealed it, the half price stays in place. If you lost the appeal, you would still only have to pay 35.

Don't think that if you appeal and it takes over two weeks you'd have to pay the higher amount, they word it weirdly to catch people out like that and stop borderline appealers appealing.
