"This items comes flat-packed for your convenience"

We have been preparing for our new baby and if i ever see the words " this item comes flat - packed for your convenience" again i think i will explode . After spending hours trying to put together a baby changing table/storage chest that had all the dowel holes out by 2mm it is quite obvious that it most certainly is not "flat-packed for my convenience"

It's the instructions that cause the problems, so basic they're difficult to understand!!!!

Mamas and Papas, by any chance?

I know exactly what you mean. When I was pregnant with my son, I taught him some very fruity words a bit early when I was tackling the changing table and the cot

I find flat pack great and relatively easy. Lynn and I assembled wardrobes for our bedroom on Saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed it and it was fun to work together.

Re: "This items comes flat-packed for your convenience"

i find ive now had enough of them that i can swap all the spare left over bits around till it fits together. But even a perfect one has the risk of turning Flat pack again if you try and move it

I have to confess I enjoy putting the flat pack stuff together although I've been lucky enough to not have had any missing crucial pieces or with badly fitting pieces.

I think the quality of flat pack furniture etc has improved no end and most anecdotes are now many years out of date. However the cost has increased too

I've found that too, I work at a DIY chain and we get very very few people coming back with flat pack issues. Occasionally you do get some missing parts or some clown thats put something in the wrong place and is utterly convinced he is right and everyone else is wrong, but we have all been there

Personally, I don't have any issues with flat-packed stuff. It's all about organisation and preparation

This guy however...

Re: "This items comes flat-packed for your convenience"

flat pack stuff is fine if you have all the nuts/bolts etc and the assembly instructions. i have none of the above so spent half of sunday drilling new holes in a mamas & papas cot which is now screwed together hard enough to survive a nuclear attack. although the side panel doesn't slide down any more, cos i've lost all the special bits that allowed it to do that as well
