Insurance Renewal

Just got a quote from my current insurance provider.

Paid just over £500 last year for my '99 156 2.5 V6.

New quote £1200!!

Did have a claim last year (when a gang of scrotes in a stolen car crashed into me and my insurers wrote-off my previous 156).

Looks like they're trying to recoup some of the £2100, they thought my car was worth.

confused other providers and settled for a £560 quote from the company I thought had the best cost/benefit/excess combination.

Cheapest quote I had was £416, looks like my insurer will be another £1200 down this year.

And yes I did declare the No Fault accident on the forms.

...if wishes were fishes, we'd all cast nets...

Re: Insurance Renewal

I guess they didn't want your business anymore. Glad you found another company at a much more competitive price!

Re: Insurance Renewal

Always pays to shop around at renewal time - even if you think the cost is reasonable

Re: Insurance Renewal

Always do, try and play the lowest cost against my current provider. Hopefully they'll try and match it or offer better terms to keep the business.

Last year the quote was about £500, and I expected to pay a little more as things have gotten more expensive in general.

But to nearly triple, when other companies will do it for the old price, or even cheaper, is ridiculous. Even worse, they have a 'do nothing and we'll automatically renew' policy.
