(This was spoken clearly and unhurried,)
cont;
`May I book an appointment for this
evening please?`

reply,
`Just let me check Sir,`

Short pause,
`Will 6 0 clock be O.K.?`

`Thank you kindly was my reply`

Then came thats o.k.sir.

`May I have your name please?`

Re: `Whats MY NAME`

No problem on that front here.: Always state my name, firstly, but the receptionists always say, " What name was it again please?" Followed by, " And your address is?" Pretty good surgery we attend, just as well, as the bodily mechanicals all start to disintegrate, and malfunction.

Re: `Whats MY NAME`

When Ali fought Ernie Terrell, he yellew 'What's My Name' every time he landed another piledriver jab on Terrell's face.

At the end of the fight Terrell knew exactly what Ali's name was.

Perhaps a tactic you could employ with the doctors reception staff?

Re: `Whats MY NAME`

I always answer my work telephone

"Hello Paul Rastrick speaking"

invariably the response is

"Hello can I speak to Paul Rastrick please".

There must be a word for name blindness/deafness.

Re: `Whats MY NAME`

I work in a call centre. I give my name when I answer a call, but my callers still ask who they've spoken to.

However, when callers give their names at the start of the call, it's difficult for me to remember their names, even though I know they've told me.

I think it's just a part of the human condition, and you have to ask yourself - is it worth worrying about? I think not
