Not Happy Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

My idiot neighbour has a large, inflatable swimming pool for his kids. When he's finished with it, he just deflates it and hundreds of gallons of water flood my garden
I've pointed this out to him to no avail. Brainstormed the problem with friends and family - the best idea we've come up with is phoning Severn Trent pretending to be him and asking to have a water meter installed (where's the 'evil' smiley?).
Any other ideas? They're out at the moment and the pool's full...
It's not the first problem I've had with him, his fence between our properties collapsed after he piled rubble against it. F***wit...
Cheers,
Simon

If he does it again, next time he fills it, put a dog/cat turd in the pool.

Re: Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

You could try the local council, possibly Environmental services, because this is definitely unreasonable behaviour on his part. If you have already spoken with him, then the official approach is the best. I can't believe some of the replies to the Yahoo thread. There are obviously a lot of very inconsiderate people, who think they can get away with anything nowadays. It is what I refer to as the Catherine Tate syndrome - "Am I bovvered?"

Great idea! His cats leave plenty of ammo in my garden, they come over to mine for some peace and quiet.

Pick it up on a shovel and throw it over then.

Thats what I would do if he ignored my request to stop doing what he was doing.

Re: Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

I think you need permission to fill pools over a certain size and get charged for it by the water authority. They will not be best pleased if they find out he is filling and emptying on a regular basis. He won't have a choice about a meter then.Report him. I can't stand inconsiderate pillocks like him.

You'd need a lot o' p*ss to turn it yellow.
Maybe throwing a party and inviting everyone
round for a few beers would enable him to turn
it yellow.

Maybe write him a politely worded letter, if that doesn't work contact a solicitor and ask them to write him a letter, I'm sure he would soon persist.

Re: Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

Is there any dye that can be sneaked in that wont be noticeable but will dye the occupants skin/hair

TBH reporting to water authority (as a concerned annonymous helpfull type) could be the best option.

Re: Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

On a more serious note , normally the fencing to the right of your property belongs to you , if on the left then its your neighbours and there isn't any thing you can do except ask if the panel can be repaired. On a silly note to get even, then perhaps plant the dreaded laylandei fir trees along your border they will grow very quickly and high and **** him off and they would appreciate the watering he gives them!!.

Re: Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

Iain, with that kind of watering, we could see a new national record for Laylandei, in fact, if we introduce Laylandei growing into the 2012 Olympics we could be assured of a Gold medal.

Re: Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

I think the best policy when it comes to disputes like this is to not lower yourself and to remain cool, otherwise he will be all over you when you have your radio that bit too loud, or friends around for a BBQ.

If you are going to report him to some authority then they will probably ask you if you have tried to resolve it between yourself, and if you can provide evidence that you have then you can move on to the next step. If you have tried talking then I would suggest a letter, and keep a copy for future use.

I had a problem with a shop making deliveries outside my window at 2am. I contacted environmental health and they told me I had a case but to try and sort it out first. I wrote a letter to the shop explaining that I had been in touch with EH and that while I had a case I would prefer to work it out amicably. As a result the shop reversed its delivery schedule so they start at mine at 7-8pm.

Just don't lose your cool with him, not within earshot.

Speak softly and carry a big stick.

Re: Idiot Neighbour Flooding my Garden

put a t-piece in his hose pipe overnight and connect an extra piece of hose, point said extra piece of hose through his letter box.

failing that, knock him out
