Post Offices....

A mini rant here.

There is all this talk of saving your rural post office etc which I agree is the heart of some villages.

However my experience of town/city centre post offices is that they do not want to serve people except for benefit claimants.

I went to a certain post office this lunch time to post a parcel and to buy 300 worth of stamps in various denominations for my company.

The look I got when I asked for the stamps was a picture. She was so pee'd off.

I am bloody sorry but I was posting a parcel and buying some stamps. It is a bloody Post Office after all

Close 'em all thats what I say..........

J'aime la belle voiture!

And trying renewing your car tax/registration in the Middle East, would test the patience of a Saint, were they allowed !

In my haste one year walked out with what I thought was my new card, turned out to be for a pink Grand Cherookee, no, not mine ! ( It's all in Arabic so I'm not quite as stupid as this may make me appear. ) Couldn't face the hassle of sorting this out, paid one of the local guys to go and do it for me, worth every Rial.

Re: Post Offices....

My dad runs a village post office. The post office in the local town is so crap that we get half their business out here, plus business from about 4 other surrounding villages as well.

Yeh, he runs about the only good post office in the south west.

I have no problem with good village post offices. Its the urban ones where you are treated like an inconvenience.

I know, I wasn't defending my dad's...I was pointing out that the town and city post offices are so s**t that the good ones get a large portion of their business.

Re: Post Offices....

The post office in my parents village is closing soon, although the guy who runs it is quite happy, he's 65 and was wanting to close his little shop, so he held on and has got a big redundancy cheque from the post office ... ultimately if you live out in a village, you can't just use your local shop because they don't have the range of goods you need, as there is no public transport you HAVE to have a car, therefore what is the point of the local post office? None.

... no one in the village is that fussed about the shop closing as they have to travel into town for other reasons anyway ... the only pain is that my dad can't walk across the road to pick up his news paper anymore ...
