Gippo's Who Dump Rubbish In The Road

Went to my parents today to drop my daughter of whilst we did a hospital visit.

They live along a country type road.

On a twisty-bendy section came across a 'Police Accident' sign and a load of cones what cordoned off the opposite carriage-way and about a third of the one I was on.

To my relief it wasn't an accident; but to my horror I realised it was a load of earth/rubble, a child's car seat, a fridge and other 'rubbish' that someone had obviously dumped.

This was on a road with a 60mph speed limit, un-lit and on a serious of bends.

If a car hit it there would have been a serious accident or injury, if a motorcyclist hit it he/she probably would have been killed.

How can people be so callous and have no regard to other road users - merely to save themselves a few quid

This is now the 2nd time I've seen such behaviour.

And before anyone says anything yes - I am being prejudicial by the title of this thread - but after seeing a Gippo 'invasion' of a local car park on a number of occasions and the aftermath that is left and the increase in shop-lifting that occurs etc - I don't really care

Into The Unknown

Re: Gippo's Who Dump Rubbish In The Road

they all need shooting the annoying fact is that often the crap they are dumping is from a garage/house clearance or building job that they have done, so a lot of the time they have charged someone to dispose of it and then they go and dump it either somewhere dangerous or somewhere that was once a lovely bit of unspoilt nature

Am I the only one left who feels extremely uncomfortable with the persecution of romany/gypsy/travellers?

Or do people really think Hitler was right. After he killed half a million gypsies.

I have some sympathy for them too, I have to get along with them because of the close proximity of the council run site to my work place, the ones that I know treat me with the same respect I give them. But they're not the most problematic ones. Last week about six caravans moved onto a recently vacated petrol station near us and have since moved. After a week it is now only fit for demolition, the filth and destuction have to be seen to be believed. They bring the hatred onto themselves unfortunately.

Most of the Irish travelling gypsy folk I've come across are 100% absolute scum bags who deserve to be shot. But hey, that's just 'most' of them.

I'm sorry. I would normally be one of the first to criticise tarring all groups with the same brush; but there comes a point in time when, whenever you come into contact with a certain group there are certain unpleasant events that always occur, that political correctness is left wanting.

When they come into town and don't 'take-over' public car parks, groups of up to 20 all go into shops together with kids that they let run riot so shopkeepers have to stop them and whilst their doing that the adults nick a load of stuff; vandalism doesn't suddenly increase significantly, 'dumping' doesn't suddenly increase etc etc then I might agree with you.

However, I very much doubt that isn't ever going to happen.

Re: Gippo's Who Dump Rubbish In The Road

Councils used to have an obligation to provide sites for the UK traveller population. They never provided enough. This created problems.

Guess how it was decided to resolve the problem?

Yep - remove the obligation to provide sufficient sites.

Is it any wonder there are still problems?

Kevin, don't gloss over it mate. Scum bags is scum bags.

What does my head in is people who are all about political correctness and go on about how we should open up our arms and give thieving *******s who terrorize people a great big hug.

Pikey's are Pikey's, and sadly Pikey's are rotten little scrotes that do nothing good with their entire existence.

If I see a collection of caravans parked up that aren't supposed to be there my first instinct is to torch it.

Re: Gippo's Who Dump Rubbish In The Road

Right behind you Darren too many people wont stand up for themselves because of political correctness. ALL travellers are sponging, robbing, intimidating pigs who think they are above the law. In nearly all cases you hear of this is true cus people and the law are scared of the reprecussion and dont want to be seen to be victimising the gypos. Get a job (a propper legit one and pay NI and so on) and a house and dont come round mine asking if i have any scrap metal. If i did you wouldn't get it. SOD RIGHT OFF YOU PIKEY SCUM

What about those idiots that dump cars on the side of the road?

Re: Gippo's Who Dump Rubbish In The Road

Okay back on topic: Flytipping

Do a search in the local paper
(e.g. http://www.gazetteseries.co.uk/search/)

And although there are "Gippos" involved most
of the stories appear to be lazy people of the
house dwelling variety just not giving a ****
and refusing to pay to dump their waste

Well that would be my take on it in the West country.
Perhaps it's different elsewhere.

Nev, this wasn't a small amount, it was a considerable quantity; however, its constituency was the mix of domestic and other waste that was always left behind in the car park - after they finally 'vacated' it.

Well maybe it was better to use the land for the benefit of the community as a whole - and for those who actually have to pay their Council tax for it, and not some 'minority' who come into an area - treat it like sh*t; commit theft and/or extortion and the p*ss off leaving everybody else to have to clear up their mess?

The problem is Darren, if you think it's acceptable to talk like that
about one group, then doesn't that mean it's fine to do it to any group?

Which is all right until you find yourself in a group that everyone else
has taken a dislike to. Which hopefully won't ever happen to you.

Okay, I stand corrected. But it's still interesting to see that
flytipping is becoming so rampant in the UK. It can't all be down
to the "Gippos" can it?

Thing is Nev, from the many people I talk to, and in the trade I'm in there are a lot of 'pikies' doing jobs, this is a view shared by a very great number of people.

No, it probably isn't all down to the 'gippos', but with rising costs for being able to tip rubbish, people will find a loop-hole. Sadly the easiest way here is down quiet country roads. I don't disagree with charging, as costs need to be met, but the price charged for disposing of your rubbish is rising quickly here. (A local council near myself has actually gone to the lengths of installing CCTV cameras down a certain quiet stretch of road reknowned for fly-tipping to catch who-ever it is tipping.
