Re: Bloody BT Engineers ...

Had problems with these chaps too... Made an appointment for them to visit... discuss new service and expect existing lines...

They appeared on our doorstep 3 times none of which was the original appointment time

???

Only if you report it as out of order ....
If you don't then BT will assume it is working ok, even if the main cable is cut.

Plenty of it going round. we've got big problems in South Wales and around Bristol at the moment with pikies (am I allowed to say that?) nicking the signal cabling

Re: Bloody BT Engineers ...

There is a lot of cable nicking going on....
A group of "BT engineers" will turn up with all the correct paperwork so if anyone approaches them they can prove it's ok for them to be taking the cable.
They have proper BT overalls, and when they changed all the work permit paperwork recently,it stopped for about a week, then all of a sudden, it started again with the new paperwork.
I suspect that there may be a "pikey" insider.

Re: Bloody BT Engineers ...

Not that I'm paranoid but ... I presume that BT sub-contract the work out ... soooooo ... the subcontractor comes along removes the cable (he already has the paper work as he already does work for BT), gets a call from BT "someones nicked the cable", they come along put the cable back and get paid for it!!! ....

Re: Bloody BT Engineers ...

As far as i know, the people who look after the cabling are BT Openreach, and don't contract out - I could be wrong though.
So BT get the bad name - as per your initial rant - and have to pay to get it sorted .

Re: Bloody BT Engineers ...

Its not just cables that are being stolen.

BBC NEWS | England | Devon | Thieves steal naval war plaques

Apparently arrests have been made.

It happens all the time. I couldn't get hold of medway alfa a couple of years back, I tried a couple of days later and apparently someone had stolen the copper.

It also happened more than once on the district line underground, signal cables would get stolen.
