Britain and motoring: I don't get it

Not sure if this story: Student who drove 105mph in a 30mph zone given just 'disgusting' two month ban | Mail Online is true but if it is, I am seriously jobsmacked.

You get hundreds of pounds fines for throwing the wrong garbage in the wrong bin, you can get arrested for whatever silly reason and this guy gets away with this?

I just don’t see myself ever coming back to Blighty. Sorry

Looks like a temporary restriction on a multi lane road to me. I wonder how fast the car behind is going as well?

Re: Britain and motoring: I don't get it

Has to be said, it's very different to doing in in a 'normal' 30. Was probably still a ridiculous speed though - and if there were workmen about, then even more so.
If his actions had been intrinsically dangerous, then surely he'd have been charged with dangerous driving.

Re: Britain and motoring: I don't get it

I'm not defending him, as he is complete and utter [email protected] But, the A1058 is no normal road. It is a dual carriageway in both directions with a fixed central reservation. In normal circumstances it would (or should) be a 70mph limit, which in a modern car, in good road and traffic conditions, three figure speeds are no doubt safe.

However, with road cones out, and during the day when there may be workmen present, he really should have got a higher punishment.

Not good.

A guy on a motorbike passed me on a 30mph road last night. He also passed the four cars in front. I reckon he was probably doing a ton A complete an utter twonk - it's not a case of if he hurts someone, but when.

Re: Britain and motoring: I don't get it

All depends on the road conditions. I got caught some years ago on a dual carriage way on a dry day with a 30mph limit. Goodness knows why it was a 30mph limit anyway !!!

Re: Britain and motoring: I don't get it

Dreadfull......thats a Laguna not a megane. Im suprised it does 105mph....on a serious not we (most) all creep over the limit on a quiet motorway or sweeping B road but under those circumstances is silly

Re: Britain and motoring: I don't get it

I once got caught speeding in a 30mph limit, on my Yamaha RD350LC

The cops said in court I was doing "over 90mph" so I pleaded not guilty.. I was doing a ton-ten, easy!

We've all assumed that it was during the day because of the picture (I didn't see anywhere in the article that mentioned the time of the offence) ... the picture is quite clearly of the wrong car, I would even go as far as saying the it is not the picture that convicted him ..

1. The car is wrong
2. The picture has a copyright of "North News and Pictures Ltd"
3. The jpeg compression of the writing along the top looks different to the main pictures (i.e. to my untrained eye looks photoshoped)
4. It's on the daily mail website ...

Maybe the offence actually occured at 2am in the morning ... in which case the punishment is a little more proportional to the crime ...

(unless there is something I've missed ...)
