I'm fed up trying to keep folk safe
An extract from a witness report BTW I'm TS
I was in the process of carrying out a factory tour with two Representatives of E***m a waste recycling company, Leo Nevels Managing Director and Lorraine Irvine Account Manager.
As I approached the Gold line at approximately 11:20 am I noticed Chris H was not wearing and safety glasses and this is in contravention of the site PPE Policy for that working area.
The following conversation took place
TS “Chris where are your safety glasses”
CH “I haven’t got any”
TS “Why ?”
CH “There are none in the dispenser “
TS “There’s plenty in stock in the PPE Locker”
CH “It’s locked”
TS “Ask your supervisor to get a pair for you I can’t allow you to work in this area without safety glasses”
CH “This Job’s urgent”
TS “I still can’t let you carry on working here with out safety glasses”
CH “I’m not having my supervisor on my back because you won’t let me carry on with this job”
TS “I’ll deal with your supervisor you can’t work here with out safety glasses, who’s your supervisor”
CH “Mick G “
TS “OK stop work and go and ask Mick for some safety glasses”
CH “Who the ****** do you think you’re talking to ?”
TS “Sorry ?”
CH “Don’t you f**king talk to me like a piece of ****”
TS “We need to speak to your supervisor”
At this point I asked my visitors who had been a few feet away to wait near the PC at the end of the gold line out of earshot.
TS “I’m the Safety Manager for the site Chris and I’ve asked you to wear safety glasses is Mick in the office ?”
I turned to walk towards the office in the main plating shop and as I turned my back Chris called me a “prick”
I turned and told Chris he was to go to reception and stay there until I spoke to his supervisor.
CH “I’m not f**king hanging round there all day while you go and get Mick”
TS “Chris Please got to reception and wait for Mick to speak to you”
At this point Chris left the department to go to reception I followed him, we got to the entrance to the ATE dept and Chris turned as if to return to the hard gold line, again I asked him to go to reception and wait for his supervisor Chris then carried on to reception.
I bet the worst this toe rag gets is a slapped wrist if he does I'm looking for another JOB
