Madness Bloody solicitors

For weeks and weeks and weeks I have been bashing my bank to get my mortgage sorted in less than a third of the time it usually takes. All the time I have been telling my solicitor that we have to exchange on the 23rd and comlplete on 27th.

Two days ago he said "it's ok - I have Fedex'ed all the docs to you. No worries". Today I have foud out he has Fedex'ed everything to France Why France? And they have lost it!

Pickfords arrive tomorrow. Everything is due to ship and arrive at the new house on 28th. Now the one set of people I don't expect to make mistakes have screwed everyhting up big time. MORONS!

I onl use that firm because my best mate is a partner there. I'm gonna get him to nobble this guy's pay rise this year.

Re: Bloody solicitors

Unfortunately the legal profession seems to have its share of idiots like any other

Trouble is they can have a really bad impact on your life.

I hope you get it sorted

Re: Bloody solicitors

The's GF's mum is currently being put through the ringer because of incompetent solicitors. She signed missives for a house after being told that her house was sold and everything was signed off only to find out that it was the opposite, so now she's stuck with 2 (rather large) houses, 1 mortgage, 1 bridging loan and the possibility of a monthly penalty of 2.5k if they can't complete on her new house by the end of the month.

The estate agents are sniffing about like vultures trying to get the house sold way under value - any commission is good commission for them I suppose but it's sickening how they're trying to take advantage of this situation.

She was selling up to be mortgage free and now looks to be in more debt than when she started ... the wheels are in motion to take the solicitors to the cleaners. This is pretty much worse case scenario.

Bad news VD but unfortunately not uncommon.

All you can do for now is keep your cool and hope it works out in time, relax and look forward to the laid back life and good beer here in Lincolnshire.

Re: Bloody solicitors

Speaking as a partner in a firm which does conveyancing, I would say that most problems arise because of clients' unreasonable expectations and not because of "idiot solicitors".

Clients always want it yesterday!

Re: Bloody solicitors

lol my gf is a comercial property solicitor, every night she comes home moaning about clients who want everything 10 minutes ago, we went to rome the other week and she made the mistake of informing her important clients that she would be out of the office for 3 days, well every outstanding deal that had been on hold for months suddenly had to be completed before she went away with about 24 hrs notice , she has to do a week of late nights just to have 3 days off now

she also moans about the incompetant solicitors on the other side a lot, even partners seem totally incompetant at times, she says most delays on deals are caused by idiot solicitors on the other side. she does wonder at times how many of them are actually real solicitors

her main pet hate are clients who change the deal 5 min before exchange then moan when the exchange date gets pushed back not realising how much work is involved and strangly enough she does have other clients as well.

Re: Bloody solicitors

I agree its mad. If I want a week off I have to work twice as hard the week before and you start to wonder if its worth it. But, of course, you need a break. Unfortunately I am contactable 24/7 by the police and my criminal clients so our holidays are chosen on the basis of lack of phone coverage.

Its great to set yourself free from the shackles of your mobile

Re: Bloody solicitors

I am very, very good. But then I would say that wouldn't I. But when you are self employed in your own partnership you have to be good otherwise you die.

In my experience its the employed solicitors you have to watch.....Some not all mind....
