I have a relatively simple question that I need to ask about 156 GTA servicing. I have emailed this to both a main dealer and a well known previously reliable independent. There is likely to be some work for one of them out of this but neither replied ! I can expect this of a main dealer but the independent is a guy that specialises in and races Alfas so should have been enthusiastic. What a poor show !
I am not surprised. You'd be better off calling them.. most likely the indie will return your call but the main dealer will not. It's a shame only a few of the main dealers have actually got their act together and so many are still lagging behind.
My GTA is going to be serviced at Autolusso early next month. Have you tried there? Very reasonable, and you get a cuppa tea.
A lot of small businesses set up email addresses because they are told that you 'have to have a web presence'. But then they don't have the will or the knowledge to keep up to date with such things. You're better off using the phone.
My dad (a joiner) has an email address - he's checks it at least once every quarter!
"Incidentally, because of family connections ( my God father was a well known author and Hollywood screenplay writer ) I once got to meet Mr. Sinatra in the USA. His career was going downhill rapidly at that time ( it later recovered) and he was holidaying secretly with Ava Gardner at my God father's ranch in Wyoming. I would often go there, too, in the school Summer holidays and that is how I met him. I didn't get to see much of Ms. Gardner since she stayed in the guest house and generally only got up when I was being sent to bed ) but Mr. Sinatra (who never seemed drunk but had a bottle of Jack Daniels with him at all times ! )taught me how to fish and ride and smoke (not all at the same time ! ). I later found out that he was terrified of horses and tended to avoid any movie where he might have been required to ride one, and this makes me feel that he was learning to ride whilst teaching me !"
His butler normally does that type of stuff but it was his day off
You are not far off, but there are reasons why the phone is not such a good idea. I ring and the dealer (if an Indie) is working on a car and up to his nuts in camshafts and greasie bits. I ring and have to wait forever on an 0870 line. I am often abroad, I tend to sleep during the day and work at night etc.etc.
