Re: Congestion charging for Manchester?

i'm pretty sure it will happen eventually, the traffic in manchester during rush hour has become ridiculous in recent years. mrs al has worked at the same place at salford quays for the last 9 years and her journey to work used to be a 40 min drive max. now it's 1 hour minimum.

as for the ruination of labour, well they seem to be doing a pretty good job of that as it is, never mind the congestion charge

It probably does need to come in in all fairness although I don't drive into Manchester anyway

Re: Congestion charging for Manchester?

It will......there will be the usual "public consultation" and then they'll bring it in anyway......

Cheers To all

Re: Congestion charging for Manchester?

Hasn't a politician from Manchester already lost his position based on his support for congestion charging? But still they don't learn. The problem is that they have no interest in the views of the people they're supposed to be representing. They have already decided this is a good idea, and nothing we do or say will dissuade them. Utter arrogance.

Re: Congestion charging for Manchester?

initially trafford was the only borough to reject it, all the others agreed to it. bury has now withdrawn it's support for the scheme after finding out all the promised funding for the public transport system was a sham. i think stockport has since done the same. so all we need now is tameside, oldham, rochdale, bolton, wigan, salford & manchester to follow suit

Re: Congestion charging for Manchester?

And what happens when everybody tries to get onto public transport - £5 a day at launch £10 a day 12months later.

Labour dont need any help to ruin themselves or this country theyre doing just fine

Said tongue in cheek, I know, Nev, but in all seriousness, if more companies embraced flexible start/finish times and had well worked shift patters, productivity and punctuality would soar.

Would also increase morale if people worked shift patterns that suited their lives rather than always feeling a slave to their job and having no life away from work.

Yer, they have been talking about one around Cambridge for a while now. It starts just inside the A14 and goes out to Trumpington so its a very large area. Gonna make the A14 even more busy and more peoples lives more miserable.
