The government can't do anything to tackle knife crime

According to this, the government can't do any more to tackle knife crime and solving it is down to the public. WTF? Are the police too busy catching speeding motorists?

Rob Knox Murder: Police Minister Tony McNulty Says Public Effort Needed On Knife Crime |Sky News|UK News

This annoys the **** out of me.

Maybe the public should all go out with baseball bats and beat the crap out of anyone suspected of carrying a knife.

MAybe not but the freedom to search whoever they want without reprisal and if they are carrying a blade THEN beat the **** out of them.

I'd have no problems with a zero tolerance on this, more power to the police and it would clean up this country lots.

The trouble is the politically correct do gooders have made it easy on people who are caught with knives, and made prisons too soft that they are no longer a deterrent.
Maybe a 5 year spell in a hard prison or boot camp would help. Carrying a gun carries a 5 year prison sentence, and you can be made just as dead by being stabbed as being shot.

I think the Americans have got something right with Boot Camps. No messing about in there with the military style regime. Seems to work too from what i've seen, and maybe not a bad idea to have a couple in this country.

Hi,Nev

If the judge gave the
max;sentence each
time a knife was
found on a person,
let alone used in a offensive
manner.
The carrying of knives
would be history.
For I can recall that
the Flick knife was
in the pockets of many
a teddy boy,
but it soon died out.

I despair at the power these
men who sit in high places,
they have a moral right,
and even it could be argued a
duty of care towards
the public.

John.

Once the rot sets in at an early age, it's a long time
before (if) they come out the other end of life with any
kind or regret or respect.

The MPs are too busy working out how to screw more expenses out of us to actually worry about governing this armpit of a nation.

Did you see that G Brown actually claimed back as expenses, his Sky subscription for one of his houses - £350 pa?? Unbelieveable. This was in addition to the £4000 he claimed for a new kitchen.

I don't believe he or any other Minister has uttered a word of sympathy or condolence to any innocent victim of this current crime wave - nor for that matter to any member of the Armed Forces who has been catastrophically wounded.

I'm old enough to remember that Mrs Thatcher went out of her way to visit the aggreived in hospital etc.

Did she visit those injured by the police during the miners strike in '84?

If she had, They'dve probably filmed it and then edited it
so that the miner all left by ambulance before she rocked up.

Fair point - I'm sure she didn't.
