Amazon Questions and Answers

This will probably be the shortest ever rant thread, but WHY OH WHY do people respond to questions in the following manner?

Quote:
Question: Does it have an auto shut off when the car battery voltage gets low so the car will still start?
Quote:
Answer: We haven't wired in as yet!?
Unable to answer..
If you don't know the ****ing answer, then don't respond, ********

Amen!

And the ones who answer like that, but in an annoyed tone, like it's the askers fault that they can't breath with their mouth closed.

"How would I know, I gave it to my niece as a gift!"

On the other hand, the askers can be as bad. The worst thing about the cat flap we bought 2 years ago is the amount of people who have since asked the question "will this fit my door?" WITHOUT PROVIDING ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE DOOR.

People are becoming more stupid. Critical thinking, common sense (which is now rare) and practical application skills are things which only the wiser, older generation in the main have.

I have the suspicion that as people tend to become less savvy that within 20 years there will be no retirement age as there will be insufficient smart younger people to work effectively and pay sufficient tax.

I think that largely justifies why so many 40+ year olds get angry about the widespread idiocy which exists these days.
I now accept that humanity is now *uck** and no matter what happens the outcome is inevitable due to humanity (which is not an age dependant factor).

They say I might as well face the truth
That I'm just too long in the tooth
Oh I'm an O.A.P. and weak-kneed
But I have not yet quite gone to seed

I may be over the hill now that I have retired
Fading away but I'm not yet expired
Clapped out, rundown, too old to save
One foot in the grave

Chat bots - ‘hi! I’m here to help’ - can be just as maddening. Few months back I asked one about a camera:

- hi! How can I help?

“Do you know when the xyz camera will be available?”

Long pause...

- what is the problem you’re having with the camera?

“I don’t have a problem with the camera. I just want to know when the xyz camera will be available”

Long pause...

- what camera are you interested in? (Ah! Progress!)

“The xyz camera.”

Long pause...

- what is the problem you are having with the xyz camera?

Aaaaaaaaarghhhhh!

I think he's suggesting that you're a grumpy old fart.

But don't worry about it. He's being doing it to everyone. (I think it's because he's a grumpy old fart.)

I am indeed highlighting multiple instances where the symptoms of being a bit of a "Victor Meldrew" appears to be an aspiration rather than a failing.

In a world where people are increasingly being intolerant, unhelpful, disengaged from their fellow humankind and unaccepting of difference - I am making a stand, right here, right now (on an anonymous, low volume, niche car forum) of holding a mirror up to those who are being grumpy old bastids. You're welcome.

Blimey. It's a lot more highbrow than I realised. I thought you were just taking the mick.

I retract my accusation of deliberate comedy hypocrisy.

Are we being increasingly intolerant, unhelpful, disengaging and unaccepting of difference? I thought, certainly in my many decades on this planet, we had always been like this.

Alan Turin, Oscar Wilde, Jews, Gypsies, African slaves, African Americans, Croatians, Serbians, Aborigines, Red Indians and the present flavour of the decade Muslims, oh, and anyone overseas who had the misfortune to be part of the British commonwealth.......not an exhaustive list is it?.

To be fair, Intolerance is proportional to Stupidity.

If someone asked about how the Red paint finish on my Red super-fandango resists fading then I would give them a considered assessment. The trouble is, these days the most likely question about the Red paint finish on my Red super-fandango is likely to be "Will it match my sofa?"
