I have a friend who is an NHS CLinical Systems Trainer, she has to know the ins and outs of 3 different disparate technologies to support one Primary Care Trust, none of the systems are centralised and patient transfers are still done by post.
It would be cheaper short term to work with the suppliers of the key clinical systems to esure their data was standardised, portable and secure, but hey politicians aint IT people.
The whole british infrastructure is years behind just about everyone else. We cant even get trains to work properly. What would it take to get this country up to date and up to standard? We spend billions a year improving stuff, and yet we go no further forward.
