If it helps you relax in future - I believe it says 'exciting news' if it's a bigger win. 'News' alone means it's a teeny one.

Been there too, pal. Only to find 'Congratulations! You have won... a free lucky dip!' Thanks, but excuse me if I don't throw a party.

Don't play anymore. No need to - life generously throws up many other let downs without the pleasure of paying for them 'Here you go, mate. Have this misery on me.'

It's like my crap Premium Bonds. I get the exciting email from "Ernie" saying he has exciting news for me. Scrabble around trying to find my log in details, finally find them, log in....whoopee another £5!

That's a return this year of 0.5% on my PB holding.....

And everytime I get that email, I still "believe". Insanity.

Our premium bonds do OK. We're sitting at 1.2% return over the last 12 months.

The aggravating thing about them is that almost unfailingly my wife's set return better than mine. I reckon she's sitting at about 1.4 and me at 1.

Anyway, overall I'm reasonably happy with that rate of return along with the no-risk teeny chance of it being a big one. I don't want to put the money into anything long term, because the plan is to use it to pay off a lump of the mortgage when the fixed period ends.

I regularly win £25 on my premium bonds,

I’ve just checked the app, they’re sorry I’ve not won this month, I bet they say that to all the losers.

When I check the app, and I’ve won, I get a message saying something like “Check you’d surroundings before you click on this button to see what you’ve won “

Why? Can someone steal my £25?

Was "scratch that" a deliberate pun, by the way?

It crossed my mind but wasn't technically appropriate.

You've seen the level of the puns we generally get on here, right?

I thought that one was gold by comparison, even with a slightly tenuous link!

When I get a letter from the Premium Bonds folks, to fend off the inevitable disappointment that it's not The Big One, before I open it, I mentally mutter: 'It'll be £25 - no more than that'. And... it's always £25! (two wins last year, one win this year).

0.5% is more than double better than what the "Merchants" are offering..

Mrs Bazza and I have just won zero on the premium bonds this month. But that's the first zero since January 2018, so I would say not bad going at all.
No big wins yet though. I assume Ernie is waiting until just before the fixed period runs out on the mortgage so we can slap the huge win right into the house. Good plan Ernie.

I get a return of 1.25 % on my Premium bonds on a regular basis so about £25 a month. Sometimes it'll go a month or two with nothing but then I'll get £100 or so which keeps the average up.

Iíve never won more than £25.

This month one of the £1,000,000 winners had only bought the bonds in 2017. Swines.
