Plug sockets!!

Why can’t hotels have plug sockets next to the beds???????

I can’t put my phone on charge on the other side of the room and then lie on the bed typing stuff on forums! Argggghhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Book a room in a better hotel?

Though, I say that, I've stayed in fancy, newly built hotels where they only had sockets on one side of the king sized bed. Do they assume only one occupant of the room will have a phone?

This is a nice hotel but it’s a bit of a “God’s waiting room” hotel at the moment. I might be the youngest here!

Maybe this clientele don’t need to charge their electronics by the bed?!

I've done that before.

The other option is bluetooth travel speakers.

I used to have a USB extension cable which worked well but I’ve lost it! Probably left in a plug socket miles from the bed!!

Might have to invest in another. Or a phone with a better battery. This iphone6 is ***** (rubbish!)

The train :(

Buy one of these, or something similar, a fully charged one will last for ages.

https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/phones...pid=display~RR

Once your phone is charged up, you can charge up the power bank overnight (then forget about it the next morning and leave it behind in the hotel room).

Premier Inn (£31/night) in Northampton had two sockets on her side of the bed!

I didn’t know Premier Inn specified which side of the bed was his or hers.

I may have unknowingly flouted those rules more than once.

Man's side is nearest the door to protect from intruders.

As a man I don't care which side of the bed is mine. Why is it so important to women?

Your not the first to say that,

But as you know, there are several combinations of “people in a bed”.

Man/man. Woman/woman and variations on ménage et tois. There are also different bed layouts in a room.

What do we do in these circumstances? Do you have to toss a coin?

And how do you decide who gets the plug?

I'd imagine if there's more than two of you, and you're all consenting adults, you're probably not sleeping and might consider an intruder coming in as part of the fun, a Brucie Bonus, so it's less important who gets the defensive position.

For the record, my half of the bed at home consists of two quarters either side of the middle half which Mrs K occupies.

Either way, this is a good rant. I would also throw in stupid hotel room lights where there is a different switch for every bulb, some lights can be worked from more than one switch, but the one you forgot to turn off can only be switched off by getting up again because the only switch for it is right next to the door.
Sterzo and MalcQV like this.

Auto Express - six issues for a quid. Offer must end soon (and then immediately start up again).

I usually find that their are sockets on each side of the bed and there are bedside lights plugged into each.

We bring a double adaptors - light and charging on an individual basis.

Just back from three weeks' holiday, so this thread has a certain poignancy.

My wife is one of those people to whom the concept of travelling light is meaningless; as she insists on having a horizontal surface to spread her two suitcases, cabin bag, "personal item", etc, we usually book a room with two queen/double beds, so we have a bed to sleep in & a bed for all her stuff. Usual check-in procedure is that we take all the stuff up to the room then I go & park the car. By the time I get back to the room she's decided which bed we're sleeping in. Funny how, if there's only a bedside table on one side, it's always on her side. . .

It's not just light switches; key cards also come in several varieties: "I can't find the slot for this". . . no,you silly tart, it's contactless!

The plural of "anecdote" is not "data".

I've fallen for the free WiFi/4G smartphone from "Handy" that I found in some of the Japanese hotels.

Brilliant idea.

Free VOIP incoming and outgoing calls.
Worked outside the hotel on free 4G.

And it controlled the A/C, TV and lights in some places.

(Obviously wouldn't work in Europe or the US, which are full of clumsy thieving scum. )

He's trying to explain why he had to go down to reception naked.
But his story just doesn't add up.
