Not Happy Nearly run down by a bus

Crossing Oxford Street today, the pedestrian crossing was green to the pedestrians and a double decker bus jumps the lights and just comes straight at me with no attempt to stop. I couldn't believe it!

Re: Nearly run down by a bus

Ooh, don't get me started..... There's plans to pedestrianise part of Bristol centre except for buses; allegedly to make it safer for pedestrians; but more people have been knocked down by buses than cars

Had a few near misses with London bus drivers over here in West London so know what you're talking about Eddie !!

Seems they have lost their professionalism and respect for others

Agreed to an extent. Although over my way 2 out of 3 will still thank me when I let them out.

Re: Nearly run down by a bus

Well I do still get that occasionally but it's when they're running Red lifhts or overtaking parked vehicles on their side of the road and hence crossing the white line that I've had problems with just lately

I've even posted about it elsewhere

Re: Nearly run down by a bus

The latest madness imposed on us here in Boston is to RE OPEN the pedestrian precinct to buses ! No one wants it, it's costing a fortune to move all the street furniture and is sure to lead to at least a near miss.

Justification is that it will save people having to walk 500 yards. Our Lords and Masters obviously know what we want more than we do. A petition provided the usual lame excuses, basically we like it, you'll have to like it as well 'cos you're getting it !

Re: Nearly run down by a bus

I have a PCV license and know plenty of drivers that shouldnt. Unfortunately for all involved demand outweighs supply and so the rubbish/dangerous drivers get through.

At the top of the bus is a 5 digit number and thats one to take down, not the number plate as that means nothing believe it or not. Complain with the 5 digit number and something normally gets done about it. Well in my area they do. I've complained several times, usually because the driver was an idiot and driving like he was Shumacher, and I have always got an appology so its definately worth doing.
