Yes, I agree wholeheartedly.
We used to get those irritating phone calls that ask you if you have a computor, or if you have had an accident that wasn't your fault, you know the ones.
My wife used to get really angry and tell them to flog off.
But I used to spend time talking to them, to get them into thinking "I've got this one on the hook", and them I would tell them something that would blow the whole thing out of the water.
They would tell me about new windows and go into the whole story as to how they will save money on heating etc, and after a long chat where they are thinking what they can spend their commission for this one on, I will let it slip that if my LANDLORD agrees I will have it done.
The best one was when I had a young girl trying to get me to buy something I didn't want. I said
"I bet you are a very pretty young girl"
"Whats that got to do with it" she said.
I said, " Well! Me, I am a grey haired old git who invented half the scams you are now attempting to use to get me to spend money I haven't got, on something nobody in the Northern Hemisphere would ever want.
She put the phone down after telling me I should find better things to do with my time.
Never forget, click bait is only click bait if you click on it.
I am glad in a way that the internet and the TV are so bad.
It means I have an excuse to get out in the garage and restore my bikes and cars. Which is where I am off to now.
