Morons on BBC News 24

Anyone else notice this morning's BBC news half ar**d attempt at putting a human interest spin on national news events?

Namely the 2 utter half-wits who were driving the length of Britain in a Ford KA but were worried about fuel shortages in Scotland?

The solution? Fill the boot with 20 litres of petrol in jerricans

HOW UTTERLY BRAIN DEAD ARE YOU PEOPLE?

Aside from being totally illegal and downright dangerous; giving these Darwin-award candidates a forum will just serve to encourage more like-minded numpties to do the same.

Panic buying, stockpiling, and then driving around in mobile incendiary bombs...

If you're that worried about petrol take the bloody train or get on a flight and rent a pre-fuelled car when you get there.

I can only hope the cops took some time off from filling in paperwork and busting people for overfilling their bins and pulled these 2 clowns off the road for dangerous goods transport violations (last time I did my ADR training it was a 5 grand max fine for this sort of carry-on).

If you want to call me a cult leader that's fine.
But you will be laughing on the other side of your face when the spaceship arrives.

Depends, ADR is covered by classes and such, if they are carrying the petrol in a way that it can be classified under packing class 3 then they can carry upto 1000kg of it without breaking ADR, but, it should be class 2 no matter what container it is in due to its dangerous nature, there-by they can only carry 333kg, which is what? still 12 Jerry cans...

Re: Morons on BBC News 24

Not in plastic Halfords-supplied jerricans. My one isn't even marked as a UN packaging.

And would you really want that in a rear end impact in a teenymobile like a Ford KA? Would be like the Ford Pinto all over again...

Think the 1000 Kg limit is for a proper bunded fuel trailer. Would be funny to see that behind a KA...

Not at work today so cant get the ADR book out.

Petrol is Class 3 PGII. So anything over 5l and you're over limited quantities.

Re: Morons on BBC News 24

Packing Group two limit is 333kg isn't it and Packing Group 1 is 33.3kgs?

We have never had issues transporting petrol in 25l containers on the lorries when its on PG II

The obvious but always overlooked
solution to a "fuel crisis" when you
have to get somewhere.

The jerry can numb-ers are an accident
waiting to kill someone.
