Forking tractors!

You know them big tractors that have a forking big spike on the front? For forking big lumps of hay all over the place or picking it up in big hay cubes?

How close have you ever got to one of them?

Reckon they are safe on the road?

With the big fork down at driver/passenger compartment height?

When they are approaching a junction do you ever get a bit twitchy that they might under-estimate the front projection?

Or have you perhaps had one of these jolly chaps just not bother with the junction at all, and just keep going into the road, ready to give you the fork of your life?

Iím sure that would never happen.

No 2 on the Git list

Are you folding?

From the Verbout police vaults:

I have come across this exact situation.

Big tractor, with several pointy forks, meets motorcyclist on a fast country unrestricted road.

I’ll not go into the gory details but the biker was killed immediately and the tractor driver was so traumatised we could get him out of his cab.

The scene is etched in my minds eye, along with lots of others.

I've seen them around these parts but they always (sensibly) have their spikes raised up out the way of sticking motorcyclists or drivers.
