ISPs 404 Page Not Found redirect

If you return an unknown URL
my ISP have one of those redirects
to a "useful" set of their links.

I use a thumb board for browsing
and occasionally get an extra character
or something in the URL bar.

I could just correct it, but this stupid redirect
changes the address to something like:

http ://aidenavigation.aliceadsl.fr/process?key=0025ce418e2a6c0cdf26accd5ee9d659374

FFS NO!

I understand every word on an individual basis.

Put them all together and it might just as well (to me) read:-

dfeww aderwn gt fot infrgr hrtoiw.

Re: ISPs 404 Page Not Found redirect

Clearer explanation:

If I type a wrong address in my browser it
redirects to a stupid Alice ADSL page instead
of the browser just saying "Page not found"

It's annoying.

That better?

Re: ISPs 404 Page Not Found redirect

The recommended procedure to prevent this is to type in the right address in the first place.

No, no - there is no need to thank me.

Paul.

Erm...

Isn't that more or less standard?

Re: ISPs 404 Page Not Found redirect

I was unaware of this practise.

Apologies.

I meant, wasn't "error 404 page not found" standard practise.

I now understand both your original post more clearly, and the problem you are on about.

I have only ever seen "error 404 page not found", so until now, did not have a clue what you were on about.

Honestly.
