Not Happy M6 toll road

The other week i was travelling south down the M6 and the signs began to appear warning of congestion on the M6 through Brum as it was after 9pm and i was in no particular hurry we went the M6 route. I am also not to keen to pay 4.50 to use the toll road, but have done when the needs arises. However, proceeded south on the M6 and lo and behold no congestion no hold up - are they trying to drum up some biz for the 'toll road' - whats going on?

On the same journey we kept on coming across warnings to reduce speed to 50mph as there was an 'obstruction in the road'. Again no obstruction. The people in the control room are well out of order.

Re: M6 toll road

Potentially. I'd be more inclined to believe that there WAS a problem earlier on and the signs hadn't been amended back to their original state. All too common that, and it has the potential to cause so many problems.

It's a FACT that when the gantry signs read 'M6 Toll clear', then the M6 proper is also clear, but they will always default back to the this.

£4.50 for a blast de-restricted road is money well spent IMHO

Re: M6 toll road

I thought it was more than £4.50 now? I lose track, not been along it in a while. I do use it whenever I can though as it's very enjoyable indeed

The M6 toll de-restricted? Not according to their website.

Or was that just wishful thinking?

Re: M6 toll road

If it's not actually de restricted then there is something very odd going on with it. Lots of locals who like their cars give them a blast on the toll road. Why would the police be missing out on lots of speeding fines there for the taking? I love it and use it every time whether the M6 is busy or not. Its like stepping back in time to how the roads used to be years ago. Bargain

Re: M6 toll road

Re: M6 toll road

Just to clear up a point according to the M6 Toll website the speed limit is 70mph

Re: M6 toll road

Drove the length of France yesterday.

Even with at least 8 sections of roadworks
including widening, speed never dropped
below 80.

There are grumbles starting about how much
profit the autoroute companies are now making,
but personally, I don't mind paying tolls on new
roads that let me travel 1000km in 8 hours.

The cops treat them no differently than public
roads.

Re: M6 toll road

must be the same bunch of morons who control the variable speed limit on the M42 who have the motorway down to 40mph for 2 miles before roadworks and 1 mile AFTER the roadworks, at 1 in the morning

Re: M6 toll road

At £4.50 it is a rip off. At £3 a car though I may be tempted to use it again.

Now I drive a Diesel barge I simply don't see the point.
