The Rover / MG Forum

Hmm,

What with me wanting to buy a convertible for the summer, and having decided on an MGF VVC, I decided to swing by the MG/Rover forum to make myself known and ask some questions.

Looking at the sheer state that most of their threads are in I wish I hadn't bothered,

Here is one example:
mg zr mk 2 - MG-Rover.org Forums

Some poor idiot asking a bunch of pompous, arrogant sods a question, then getting flamed, then some member of the forum with half a brain sticking up for him and giving him a decent and helpful response.

Luckily this forum's not anything like that!

So then, Alfa Spider it is!

Nah, I'm decided on the MGF VVC, but maybe I need to find a better MG forum,

Darren

darren take a look at Welcome to Rovertech.net thats the rover/MG tech forum.

I have owned a few rovers in the past but always found them to be lots of trouble unless they are honda engined versions.

Re: The Rover / MG Forum

Well funnily enough I have been thinking of doing exactly the same thing. Researched it all and come to the conclusion definitely do NOT buy an MGF/TF. Load of trouble, head gaskets etc. etc. They look good value but that's only because there are loads around and nobody wants to buy em so you would be stuck with it forever. MX5 or MR2 seem a much better alternative - maybe a bit girlie though?

Re: The Rover / MG Forum

lets face it, anything after the BGT and
midget are just rebadged BL or Rovers.

Calling yourself an MG driver whilst
cruising in a Montego, Maestro or 25
is just dellusional.

Re: The Rover / MG Forum

You are correct Nev, the MGF uses a glorified Rover engine, a 1.8 VVC engine in fact. Very quick to be fair, but it doesn't stop me worrying,

The first MGs were just rebodied Morris saloons, so you could argue that these are truer to their heritage.....

There'll be an inter-board flame
