Why get in the way of an ARMY CONVOY

I use the M40 alot between j15 and 8a driving the new Army wolfs getting ready for operations. When we drive in a convoy what the **** are drivers doing getting in between the vehicles and then complain that were driving so close up there arses. YOU DONT BLOCK a ****ing military convoy. We carry important kit and need to stay together.

Re: Why get in the way of an ARMY CONVOY

Why is it exactly so important that you need to stay together

Everybody is equal on the roads as far as I'm concerned ( apart from the emergency services ) and driving an army vehicle doesn't make you any different.

Safety in numbers I guess - especially with live ammo and weapons

What do the different coloured flags mean And why do you drive with your lights one

Re: Why get in the way of an ARMY CONVOY

130kph is top speed, but are you happy driving your car at top speed everywhere?

Oh hang on, this is an Alfa forum. Daft question

In all seriousness, most cars at their top speed are blooming uncomfortable places to be, requiring much more concentration to keep going safely. I have an 07 Defender and a Disco3 and the Defender at it's restricted top speed of 82mph is NOT fun. Imagine the press if a Wolf kitted out with full kit was in an RTA because it was travelling at 70mph, leaving car, bodies and assorted military kit strewn across the road.

Just because the military are prepared to lay their life down for Queen and country doesn't mean they should do so just to let Joe Public get to work 20 seconds earlier. A case in point; this morning I was overtaken by captain impatient in his Saab 9.3 while I bimbled along the A31 (single carriageway) at 60. There followed some 20 miles of overtaking at every opportunity, using the outside lane on the dual carriageway sections and tailgating everything in sight with his headlights on. By the time I turned off at Ringwood he was less than 10 seconds ahead of me as I passed the 300yard marker for my turnoff. At no point had I exceeded the speed limit.

OMG, I've turned into an old fart!

Your right everybody is equal on the roads. Its just common courtesy. A convoy is a convoyu. Were on a convoy order. Meaning we have to stay in the convoy.

Do you ever feel like mixing and matching just to add a little excitement to 40mph

Hell it would be a pleasure taking those to war. the taliban will be so shocked at what we got they will forget aboyt pulling the trigger and just watch in amazement as 25 alfa romeo sporty looking tanks and landies roar acroos the dessert.

Haha it makes me laugh when you se these impatient drivers who nip in and out of traffic only to find when i get to a roundabout the car is still only like you said about ten seconds in front. Dont get me wrong, i do drive faily fast myself however is there really any point in bolloking it taking over on bends????
