So that's where the Police are...

There's a soccer game on the TV...

I've never seen so many policemen in one place...

So that's why it takes them 3 hours to respond to a 999 call

I believe that having Police present at a match is quite a cost to a club.

Re: So that's where the Police are...

The clubs pay a hefty whack for the police presence, and the individual police officers doing it are on overtime, so it does not take away from their other tasks at all.
Sorry to deny you putting another of society's ills at footballs door

I don't blame the lack of a police presence in ordinary life against any one thing...

But it does seem to be an extraordinary use/waste of a resource to expend it at an event that is supposed to be entertainment

Re: So that's where the Police are...

The only places I see the police is in the chip shop and down Tescos. That is if they can get past the fire engine that is always parked out front.

So when the police are present at Music festivals, boxing matches, london marathon etc etc this is bad yes?? Like Bazza said, clubs pay alot for it, officers are paid well for it on over time (my cop mate loves doing the matches) and trouble never happens anymore certainly not in the premiership. So this snipe at football AND the police has failed really.

If "trouble never happens" why are the police there in such large numbers... just for the 'overtime'

I'd rather see them policing the neighbourhood.

I wasn't having a go at your favourite game (I guess) I was having a go at the police...

Do you think three hours is a reasonable response to a 999 call?

Our Chief Constable does

Re: So that's where the Police are...

Three hours is totally unacceptable as a response to an emergency call, though from what I have been hearing of late, it may well be becoming the 'norm'?

They're probably caught up in the stations filling out the stupid amounts of paperwork that they now have to complete for even so much as an apprehension.

What happened GJ, if anything and if inclined for it to be shared? Or is it a response to something in the media, this thread that is?
