Tyre mileage!!!

Sneaky things these tyres - if there's not a puncture or sidewall rip in em, they've worn in that nice dark area called the inner edge..

Just been out to look at my tyres and realized the fronts are getting low.. Thought i'd have a look the old invoices and find out how long they've been on the car...

First Invoice: 4 x Toyo T1-R 225/45/17 fitted at 71180 miles, 28/11/2006

Second Invoice (Fronts Dead) 2 x Pirelli P Zero Asimmetrico fitted to the rear at 77200 miles, 19/07/2007.

Now by my reckoning, that means I've covered a grand total of 6020 miles before the tyres hit cord..

Had the Pirellis fitted at the back, and Toyos moved forward..

Now I need to replace the fronts again, at 82300 miles, 02/03/2008

So as a maximum, will a set of T1-R's only cover 11120 miles??

i'm going to be going in shortly to get 2 new fronts again, this time I think i'll pick the pirellis.

I have my car 4 wheel laser aligned whenever I get tyres fitted with a computer aligner, so the tracking's exactly as it should be, and I check my tyre pressures once a week, never seen tyres wear so quickly.

"molto costoso ed emozionante"

If the haynes museum find any nuts attached to a fence, Hammy'd like em back..

Re: Tyre mileage!!!

The 2.0 GTV gets through fronts in 8-10k and rears last about 12. So 11k for a V6 is pretty good going.

You could drive like my grandad ( and he's been dead for 50 years) at 40 mph everywhere and you might get 12k.

Bottom line - rapid tyre wear is the price you pay for your pleasure - it is worth it though.

Paul.

Yep, I used to recon on 1 pair per year (12K miles) on the front of my 145. Even on my Xantia which is hardly sporty, I've gone through a set of fronts in about 16k

Re: Tyre mileage!!!

A rear tyre on my bike lasts around 2k and at around £120 a tyre that makes it expensive ..The GTV got around 9k on the fronts and about the same at the rear but the rear lower arms were worn so that possibly wore them out quicker.. shes just had new rear lower arms, tyres discs pads etc etc so i will see how long they last now.

So that's why it takes you so long to get up in the morning?
