Moron pedestrians versus pelican crossings.

Have these morons no spacial awareness? Are they incapable of approaching a light controlled crossing and actually looking at the traffic situation before slapping their hairy palmed hands on the button? No, carry on moron. Press the button and then realise you've got more time than it takes Mo Farah to do the 10,000m to get across the road. I'm so pleased that you're now merrily walking down the pavement to the beauticians to have your monobrow trimmed whilst I am forced to waste my life at a ****ing red light.

Office Chair.

S'not illegal to jay walk here I don't think.
WTF does Jay walk come from? Don't say the USA.

There is a Pelican crossing in my local town we use a lot. We (missus and I) use it as a pedestrian and a motorist. Obviously coming at two different angles depending which mode of transport I'm using. However everytime I come to it on foot it's on red to cross and every time in the car it's on green for walking.

I'm thinking of getting her to cross at the crossing whilst I approach in the car. I reckon it'll go red for both us

I'm not going anywhere, I'm just going.
Statements above are all my own opinion and not fact.

Jay walking comes from the American
word "jay" meaning a dullard type person.

Good rant, good balance between the extent of the rage vented and the length of rant

It's the not looking I'm having a problem with these days. People crossing the road without turning their heads, without making eye contact with the drivers (or cyclists). It happens when they cross with the light at crosswalks. It happens when they run out into the middle of traffic and cross in the middle of the road. The only constant is the refusal to engage.

I swear everybody has developed some king of ostrich complex: if you don't look at the person in control of the vehicle that can run you over, they won't see you and you'll be safe. (Honestly, I have no idea how the logic on this works. )

It's a good rant but really you should be cross that the pelican crossings haven't yet been replaced by puffin crossings, which detect when the pedestrian has left and therefore don't stop the traffic.

I was at a pelican crossing a couple of nights ago.
A mum, who was with many kids, decided that she would talk to someone else and forget about those who she was responsible for.
One of the kids pressed the button and the light turned red. I waited for them to cross, but mum was too busy chatting.

There must have been 5 or more people standing at the crossing and No-one crossed!!!

I hope they enjoyed their chat... and my diesel fumes.
