Not Happy Don't Buses Stop For Red Traffic Lights Anymore ??

I've witnessed three separate incidents in five days this week of buses 'running' red traffic lights !!

I don't mean they've gone through ambers I mean RED lights !!

Two have been as I'm moving off in response to a green light in my favour !!

Add this is on top of two incidents in two weeks of a bus coming onto my side of the road to over take a parked car and me having to take avoiding action to avoid a crash !!

Bus drivers don't seem to be professional any more and seem to have adopted the attitude "I'm bigger than you so have the right of way no matter what the situation" IMO !!

Re: Don't Buses Stop For Red Traffic Lights Anymore ??

To be honest, when I lived in London a few years ago, the average bus I encountered whilst driving my old 147 always adopted the "I am bigger then you, push off" driving style you mention.

Get the reg, time and route number and report them to A: The company, B: The Police (not the band), they must take action and after a week you can fined out how it went.

Seriously though I should have done that for the bus that I had to avoid by going onto the footpath !!

(Luckily it very early in the morning and the kerb was 'low' at the particular point !!)

The driver didn't flinch or let off the throttle either !!

Maybe you should stay out of the bus lanes nomes.

Seriously though it should be reported, if you were a bit quicker off the mark as they trundled through it could get pretty messy.

I'm always cautious when moving out now as I've had a few incidents with other large vehicles running red lights round here (A 40 tonne truck, a National Express Coach and a large aggregate lorry) and all on the A4 !!

I have had few little niggles with coaches running through the village I live in, they dont stop they just push on past the parked cars and force you to pull over - just wait till I kerb a wheel or something.

Yes they are definitely getting worse and now we have the bendy buses as well. And this is in York with narrow medieval streets. Bloody ridiculous!

Well, I guess a bus is just a big van with windows. And people in it.

I always liked Margaret Thatcher's comment, which went something like, "If a man reaches thirty and finds himself still travelling on a bus, he knows he's failed in life."

I personally try not to travel on the Loser Cruiser if I can help it. All those people coughing and sneezing, the greasy hair marks on the windows. Not pleasant.

If all those Losers on the bus were in cars you would not be going far

Absolutely right, Ray. Lots of people love to have snidey pops at public transport but I'd love for just one day, everyone who uses a bus or train to get to work, to take the car instead.

The country would come very rapidly to a halt.

I would say this thread is a metaphor for what’s really on your mind....

Big red bus not doing as you would hope...

I am no Freud but I would say you’re having feelings of sexual inadequacies, and envy over size...
