Not Happy My first near death experience (in my car)

I had my first near death experience (in my car) last night with a lorry...

So there i am in my little punto, filled to the rim with people (first time i ever carried 4 other people) and im driving along happily at 30mph in a 30mph limit and i come to a mini round about, its completly clear from the right so after the KA infront goes i go....so there i am and there is a lorry coming pretty fast from my left nearly goes into the side of me, god i was bricking it......so i put my horn on and try to put my toe down and shout out you stupid d!ck and many other words at the top of my lungs (bearing in mind i have my mum next to me ) as you know he nearly wiped me and 4 other people out and he then wacked his horn on as if he'd done nothing wrong and then continues to flash his lights at me for the 10 mins he was following me up my a$$.....what a [email protected] i thought .....

Rant over.........................

Did you notice his plate? Some pretty rough continental HGV'ers about on our roads now, playing Russian Roulette with us.:

Re: My first near death experience (in my car)

My mate got swiped by a Polish HGV driver the other day actually. My mate's fresh out the army and wanted to sock the bloke one, but luckily he didn't.

Apparently his Mazda 323F has a black smudge all down it now.

I don't want to be the racist Johnny Foreigner basher, but alot of them are off their heads.

I hope it didn't affect you too much in your driving. I hope you get over the shock of it real soon

A lot of them come from countries who consider driving regulations to be an inconvenience then a necessity. So they tend to be driving on raw instinct and adrenaline rather then a good nights sleep.
It is shocking, not unheard of for some to work 30 hours non stop.

i'm half Polish.

The problem is...thanks to the EU, Poland has gone from A-Z is so many ways, but with nothing in between. So, a Pole can now easily get his hands on an AMG Merc, trading up from his FSO. The leap - power at least - is frightening.

The UK is lucky that over time its economic growth has been relative to the development of many other aspects of society. Our roads have got - mainly - safer, at the same time as our cars and attitudes to driving have got safer.

Poland hasn't enjoyed this controlled growth. A 500bhp Merc can now thunder down a track fit for horses controlled by safe thinking/initiatives that are fifty years old (if they exist at all).

I'm not making excuses for the Poles...but I can understand why in the UK accidents with Eastern European drivers are increasing.

Re: My first near death experience (in my car)

Its amazing in London how many eastern European cars there are here. There is a beaten up alfa 33 on latvian plates round the corner. It's been here for the last 2 years

Not registered here so no tax, and I bet no insurance. It just upsets me.

A mate at uni is from Slovakia, he's drove here in his Vectra left-hooker, doesn't pay no tax and his insurance in Slovakia covers him (apparently - so he says anyway ).

He does go home for a few weeks at Christmas and in summer so technically he doesn't have to register it here as its not in the country permanently. It'd be a wise idea to buy a foreign registered RHD car and use it here to save on tax, just go to Calais and back once a year (for cheap booze and fags, why is Britain such a rip-off? )

Re: My first near death experience (in my car)

Sorry to hear this Baby but glad you're ok.

Scary thing is how much momentum lorries have - they should be braking far sooner than some of them do.
